According to my sources the Knicks are giving up Tim Thomas and a number 1 pick for Curry. The deal is 80% done. This happens, then watch out, cuz we become a very deep team.
wow if we're only giving up TT and a pick then I'll be extremely happy...btw, whats your sources??

IMO the heart condition is way overblown and can only work in our favor.

hardcore, i disagree with you here. he can't get insurance. freakin' wwf wrestlers can get insurance but this guy can't. that's not something i can just dismiss.

Sounds alot like the Quentin Richardson scenario, though, doesn't it? I just want to see the same outcome as in that instance.
I'm not dismissing it, but I'm not going into panic mode either.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I don't know if I like this trade either. If Curry remains healthy and can live up to his "Potential" then it's good, but if he remains a sissy, like Marv says, as well as unhealthy, then we are completely getting ripped off. First off, with this trade, we start off giving him more than 15 mm a year. Am I wrong about that? Are you guys seriously willing to give a guy that kind of money to an uninsurred player with a potentialy fatal heart condition, who wont even take a test to see whether he does or doesn't? Before all these issues, I could have done this trade, but we are giving up A LOT for a player like this, and I'm not sure it's worth it. This kinda has blunder written all over it, in my eyes.

again, if they are willing to throw 70mm$ at curry, then they would be willing to give up lee. i cant imagine lee would hold up a deal maybe they can fire a second round pick for next year or 2007 back at us if we give them lee

Lee Sweetneey and TT is **** deal for Curry. It sucks regardless of how high on Sweetney you are or arent. If you told me Sweetney would be a career bench player and average 11/8 and 52% FGs for his career the deal is still lame.

There's a difference between buying low and buying broken. Right now Curry is broken. If he wasnt he would be able to get insurance.

If I had a buck for every time Bonn used the words asset and expiring contract in the same sentance I would be rich. So we give up this great expiring contract asset along with young players for a guy with a bad heart. Hmmm... that doesnt seem like buying very low to me at all. Sounds pretty freakin high actually

I look at it this way, IF Curry was 100% healthy, I would do it. Now I dont know IF he is healthy in fact I know nothing--Im guessing that if the Knicks are willing to pay 70+mm they have enough information to believe he is healthy--if he is NOT healthy--than we royally fcd up. But again I would do the trade IF he was healthy--but I dont have his medical records nor does anyone here--we know nothing other than smart money wont insure him:>)

Unfortunately what its gonna come down to is losing Sweetney or Lee. I personally dont want to see any of them go but that whats its gonna come down to.I think Sweetney is the future Elton Brand and Lee is the future Troy Murphy. Curry...um?

thats what i was saying in the beginning of this thread. Outside of what people like Paxson have said, Curry has not shown anything on the court, that he isnt healthy. All this talk about him having a heart-attack is blown up and over-exaggerated. If the deal is sweets, lee, and TT for curry, you do it without thinking.

geeze.. why cant we for once target a player that doesnt have so many freakin issues?

thumbs down on the trade for me. Damaged goods

Either at Dolan's direction, or because he too stupidly believes it, Isiah has subscribed to the view that you can't rebuild in New York.

That delusion caused him to make one risky move after another since he stupidly took on Marbury's contract thereby exacerbating the existing cap problems.

first off, i dont think isiah would do this deal unless curry is healthy. secondly, how is acquiring curry for lee&sweets not rebuilding?

i agree with those that said isiah wouldn't give curry that deal unless they know he's healthy. that would just be completely stupid on their part if they didn't.

with that said, and despite being a huge fan of sweetney, IF healthy, then yes, curry is worth it. does he have work ethic issues? yes. does he have head issues? yes. does he have weight issues? yes. but IF he's really healthy, and cleared by a number of doctors, and the knicks believe it, then you HAVE to make a move for a 22 year old potentially dominating offensive center. he, physically can be the 2nd most dominating presence next to shaq in the league and we have the right coach in place to get it out of him.

i was very anti-curry for a long time but i can't see isiah trading for him without some health assurances.

Didn't it look we were in line to get Kwame before the Lakers made a deal. I just think Paxson will not deal him to the Knicks even if it means taking less talent from another team or just sign him to the qualifying offer.

If getting insurance were so simple, then why would a player who missed 0 out of 82 games due to back problems last year be unable to get insurance for his back this year (Q)? If Curry is healthy, the deal is good. Sweetney and Curry are the same age but Sweetney's never had a stretch remotely close to Curry's season last year.

If Curry is really unhealthy like the Bulls are implying Paxson wouldn't give a damn who he deals Curry to. I keep reading these articles that say Paxson doesn't want to deal Curry to an Eastern conf team. But if Curry, as they're implying, is anywhere close to damaged goods then why would they even care where he goes?

It depends on whether your first point is correct, doesn't it? But if, as has been reported, Isiah is willing to forgo the DNA test, Isiah can't know whether Curry is truly healthy.

THANK YOU!!! It kills me how people think that IT and the entire Knicks organizaton could be that stupid to want to take a chance on a player like Curry without knowing if he's healthy or not. Its not hard to get EKG's, Echo cadiograms and MRI's etc. to determine the condition of the heart and if its at risk. I'm sure they have all the blood tests to check his cholesterol levels yadda yadda.

As far as the players involved, TT who cares, Sweets sorry to see him go, but we've got others and Lee never really knew ya. I like Lee, but even right now he's a stretch to get minutes on this team and a guy like him shouldn't be hard to replace. Curry on the other hand is the rare player that we need. Yes he needs to work on his rebounding and D, but DANG... he's only 22 and with the right guidance his upside is way beyond any big we've had since Ewing.

Rasheed is a 15/7/1.20 PF and lots of people were killing themselves to get him. Its not a stretch to imagine Curry being better than that. This is what IT is seeing and we should trust him on this.

Those tests can only reveal the present condition of his heart. A DNA test in the only tool available to predict future heart function.

Im with ya, Im on the Curry bandwagon here--ill do it right now lee sweetney and thomas--im willing to take a risk and shake it up--i agree with you, i know that stress echo's used with injected dye and MRI imaging show the left ventricle wall and blood flow at maximum heart beat--we can say dna till the cows come home, but if he is testing at a normal blood flow at maximum output and his walls are moving normally, its going to be a normal stress test --in fact I see plausible scenarios where if he goes through a year with no problems and does some retesting--im sure insurance can become available again.
we dont need 40 min a night from curry--we need a hard 26
