whereby Isiah would agree to release Davis so that Chicago could resign him with the Vet. Min, seeing as they need as many Centers as possible.

as an aside, didn't the new CBA get rid of that sort of thing? the gary payton rule? i thought they wanted to close that loophole.

and i don't think curry makes us that much better than mediocre. he can score, but doesn't do much else. we need D, shotblocking and rebounding (now that KT's gone), and curry is notoriously weak in that stuff. and there's a good chance it turns out to be a poor invenstment if (a) he has a serious heart condition, or (b) if he mails it in after getting his payday. this is a guy willing to take a year off from the game because his feelings were hurt. i'd rather stick with nice-guy sweetney, who we know is going to do his thing on both ends and will be more reasonable for us and any potential trade partners.

a) well that depends on what we are giving up.

b) that could be said for any player.

i dont think curry would take the yr off, i just think he wants out of Chi-town, which i dont blame him. if sweets is still overweight and isnt serious about his conditioning, i'd trade him in a deal for curry without hesitation.

we gave up *nothing* to get allan houston. but everyone still complains about him being paid to sit injured on the bench. i think it's ridiculous that people don't think it's an obstacle to overpay for players when "it's not our money;" if they're not playing, it's a dead weight on the roster and holds the team back.

b) that could be said for any player.

come on, curry doesn't have any extra red flags about his attitude and commitment?

i haven't heard anything i like about curry's attitude. i don't really know what he's planning on, but i don't want any part of it. and, it would be nice if we could trade players who don't work out for us, like sweetney if he doesn't take care of himself, and get valuable players. but come on, we're going to give other teams our trash, and theirs is going to sparkle for us? let's hold on to what we have, not chase stuff like curry.

Curry, just like his buddy Jamal......NEEDS Larry Brown to become the type of player he has the potential to be.

Larry Brown will smack the black right off his face....right off both their faces. He'll tell him and Jamal to drop and givem 20. He'll havem setting up bunk bends in MSG.

I'm telling you. Eddy Curry could really become a monster under LB. I hear all this **** about Larry changing Marbury, Jamal, Jerome, etc. If Isiah pulls off the unthinkable and trades for this guy.....I'm tellin you....Eddy could become a freakin beast...so much more more so than he already is.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I want Eddy Curry.....but maybe the reason he plays hard one day and sucks the next is because of this heart condition......well obviously it is.
He definately fills a need as far as size and interior scoring. I don't need to see this kid die on the court. I still remember Reggie Lewis fell to the floor with Larry Johnson reaching down towards him not knowing what had happened but his expression said it all.......that was a scary moment.

Lewis was one of my favorite players and I cried like a baby when he died.
Drazen was also one of my favorites too and he died not too far apart from Reggie.

I still get a feeling of sorrow when I see this picture:

Enyspree, I guess we have more in common than a f$$ked up knee. I had sportschannel when Petro played (back then you had to pay for it separately.) and I watched almost every game of his short Nets career. He was really good. In fact he was the best player on the team in my opinion, better than Kenny Anderson or DC. He should have made the all-star team. I tell you he could out-shoot Stojakavic any day. And the MF was clutch and tough! The Nets should not have been cheap with the contract money. His was such tragic death, because it just didn't have to happen.

oohah

I really liked petro, he was a fun player to watch, I think he was killed back in his home country in a car accident in which his girlfriend was driving and she made it out OK, I don't think he was wearing a seatbelt... Wear those belts fellas!! Anyway how was that unavoidable oohah? was he back home because the nets didn't want to pay him? if so, then that sucks..

BOBS, I am with 110% !!!!!!! Sweetney is a decent player, Curry is a dominating player and prsence. 16 ppg while being #5 in fg% is pretty got damn impressive for a 22 year old. We have to make the deal for him sensible, but we have to make the deal for him, period.
