but I'm happy with Frye! Honest... he's our guy now and I like the potential of Frye and Sweetney as a tandem

man has a 7'4 wingspan.

I see your point fish, but just having long arms doesn't necessarily make up for the lack of height. if a guy 6'11 is posting you up and you can't get your shoulder into his chest or your chest into his chest because he is 5 inches taller than you, well you have a problem I don't care if you had arms like Doc Oc (from the movie spider man 2)... Long arms help, but the point is Diagu is short and he plays the same position in which we already have undersized players....

I think the problem Ike is going to have like most undersized Pf's is when you are guarding a taller player and he gets into your chest where you can't extend those long arms, his shot gets a lot easier because he is looking over you with ease. After a while it starts to look like the HS kidd playing against his 7 year old brother... sort of..

well you get the point..

FYI: he measured 6'9 in shoes. The 6'6 thing was a rumor. His actual measurements are why he went from the 20s to the lottery in all the projections.

So he's a 6'9 PF and the strongest player in the draft.

Yes.. we have too many PFs (even though Frye is still one). I dont put much stock in the SL but not for nothing Frye was pretty off and Ike abused everyone he played against. He's not undersized. That label went away after the predraft measurements. Imagine if the Magic picked him. Put Ike and Howard together.

Saw both of them in the Summer League and like Lee much better. Gomes is a nice player but he doesn't have very good length for his skill set; I don't think his game will translate very well to the NBA. Frye will be fine....bring him off the bench @ the 4 spot, let him get acclimated and start him @ the end of the year or next year and you're going to have a solid (not great) PF for 10 years. He is not a center; that's why it was smart to bring in a beefy C to help protect him; my thoughts are that Sweetney should be the backup 5 behind James.

Not for nothing, but Gomes has a 7-2 wingspan and a little longer standing reach than Lee. Saying that Lee was the superior player because he played well in the SL is outrageous--are you forgetting that Gomes was a 20-10 player for 3 straight years in the BE facing double and triple teams?--played Emeka Okafor better than any player Emeka went up against in CBB? Developed a 3 pt shot so that he could adapt to the pros and became a much better passer? Lee really is not a 3, he is an undersized, athletic 4--but lets see how he does against the real big boys. Im not sying hes a bad player--he truly is gritty can run do some things, but we let a much better player go by.

Actually I was basing my opinion on size and game not who played better. Gomes appeared to me to have a big man's game in a swing man's body. Players have a tendencie to disappear in the SL games and look terrific the next...maybe I didn't see everything he had to offer in the 2 games I saw Gomes. Lee isn't a classic 3 or 4...I think an energy guy off the bench...needs an outside shot though. We'll know the answer in a couple of years.

I agree that Gomes is the better offensive player. I do like Lee's versatility in being able to play two positions. Also, we'll see who plays better defense. Briggs makes a good argument about Gomes. Lets see how it plays out.

Dwight Howard? The player Frye outplayed in the SL?

Let it be known, Frye DID NOT outplay Howard. He held his own. BIG DIFFERENCE.

On that note, I am still on the Frye Wagon and am rooting for him harder than anyone else right now, just like how I've been rooting for Cano on the Yanks.

And back to the subject at hand. I don't doubt Gomes is a better player. I just don't know. But lets save this arguement for when we actually see them play.
