Actually Marbury is only 9 months younger than KG, and people haven't said the greatest things about MArbury after he left, and every team he leaves is better without him...regardless if he is replaced by a Kidd or Nash, the team completely turns around with him. Doesn't mean I don't think he can become a winner here but lets not act like the 2004 MVP is washed up and a loser and at the same time praise our point guard who has won even less and is pretty much the same age (and Marbury does have legit ankle issues, more substantiated than KG's knee injuries)

I don't want to build around Marbury either. Happy?

yeah...at least you're consistent

marbury doesn't make 29 mil either. Garnetts contract is insane. Just insane. I love garnett, but I would make this trade 2 or 3 years ago. Do you think He will lead us to a championship before he start to decline? I think nalod had a name for this..starphuching? is that it?

when did I ever claim to like Lebron? Look, I like Marbury, but this team will never go anywhere with him - especially at the 2. The KG thing is so ridiculous, it's really not even worth mentioning.

Yes, I do. I think we'd have a good lineup with marbury, crawford, szcerbiack/ariza, garnett, and jerome james. with Q and nate off the bench, Frye subbing in minutes at the 4/5, and our depth at the 4 I think we could win it all. The backcourt we'd have is better than cassell/spree and we have more depth than that t-wolves team. I think we could be at our peak in 2 years when KG is 31, marbury is 30, and the rest of our nucleus is still young. It wouldn't hurt to have KG there to bring Frye along as well for the future.

This will never happen. And if it did somehow happen, this team still wouldn't be better than Indiana, Detroit and Miami - and that's just the East.

you make a fair point, but I am not completely sold.... To get KG I am thinking as nalod mentioned in another post, that we will have to gut our team of a lot of young talent, and to me that is not worth it..

no one is better than shaq. but shaq gets frozen out of the offense constantly in Miami (and previously with the Lakes).

Detroit is not better than the Knicks if the Knicks get KG. KG/Marbs/Q/Craw/Frye/Sweets/JJ/Rose/Nate Rob being coached by LB beats Detroit's Wallace B/Wallace R/Rip/Chauncy/Prince/DD/Dice/Hunter/Darko being coached by Flip "Game over" Saunders.

I forgot Indy. Foster is a pure hustle player. He's nice sometimes, but not the deal breaker. JO versus a busted KG, i'd still take KG. Yeah, Artest is a beast, but so what. Stephen Jax and Q are basically a wash. Marbs is much better than SJ and Tinsley. SJ does have bawls though.

A.) This is stupid b/c it will never happen.

B.) If it ever became a possibility, all you nay-sayers must be on crack. A 30-y/o KG comes along once every 10 years. You DONT pass that up.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

did you guys read the article ?

the deal is:
Hence comes New York's package. Larry Brown and Stephon Marbury have both spoken to Isiah about bringing in an athletic shot blocker and versatile big man and Kevin Garnett fits the bill. Money isn't an issue for New York. A deal which features Tim Thomas, Maurice Taylor, Anfernee Hardaway and 2 first round picks for Trenton Hassell, Kevin Garnett and Wally Szczerbiak would work under the salary cap rules and would give the Timberwolves expiring contracts (Taylor's contract expires the following season) and future first round picks.

IMO that's the only deal that we accept, and we are instant contenders.

marbs/nate
Q/Craw
Wally/Ariza
KG/Sweets
JJ/Frye

I don't think there is any filler.

we'd still have Lee and Rose on the bench...I'd throw in sweets and we're still contenders...and I'm talking about real life title contenders.

marbs, Q are better than cassell, spree, we'd have szerbiak and the bench is sick, same bench we love this year, Craw/Lee/Nate/Ariza/Frye
that's a starting lineup in 5 years.
all kool aid all the time.

I have to agree with the 'pro-KG' crowd here... I know Allan has everyone shy about the arthritis issue, but this is Garnett. Gar-nett. My fave baller in the league. (Isn't he your favorite too? deep down?) As long as we keep Steph and Jerome, I'm cool with the trade (if it's not a hoax, that is) Unless a doctor raises a flag, why wouldn't you want KG from 30-34 yrs old? Steph isn't getting any younger.

Me either. KG is a once-in-a-lifetime talent and if you have the ability to get him, you damn well better pony-up and put in your offer. KG is going to be as good as he is today, 5 years from now, without question if you ask me. If this is real and that potential deal is real then I for one am a very happy Knick fan.
