Apparently I'm a few days late on this thread

How are the Clippers ranked higher then the Nets, Kings and Sonics? I think I'd switch the Clippers and Kings. The rest isn't that crazy but the Spurs HAVE to be ranked #1, they are the defending champions and have not gotten worse this offseason, if anything they are going to better with Manu playing the way he did the way last year all year long now.

Spurs are winning the championship again and if the league isn't careful they might win every year that Duncan is healthy from now until he retires. I can see this year being a good series though, Spurs/Heat. I know alot of people want to say the Heat have too many all-stars but they still have Shaq and EVERYONE plays second-fiddle to Shaq and they know it coming in, they didn't add any Kobe Bryant ego's to that team so the Heat are going to be a definate team to contend with.

kidding... Pacers, Heat, Spurs and ... Houston. (yep, I think last year they were better than they showed in the playoffs, and I've not been convinced anybody out west has done anything to make their teams better)

I like Houston. I think adding Swift makes them scary to score on with yao in the middle. Thats is a lot of length and size to score over--and then the second unit of Howard and Deke is also very good. They got Derek Andersen, but if they are able to add spree as well, then more people will jump on their bandwagon. But I think they have the goods right now.

LA Clippers--if the Knicks had Chris Kaman Elton Brand Chris Wilcox Rebraca Maggette, Mobley Cassell flanked by Livingston Korolev[who could indeed be a steal of this draft as i have been following what he has been doing] Daniel Ewing and still had money and and room for two-three more players for depth, there would be people screaming to high hell. Is there a week that goes by where I dont see a post that includes trading half of our team for Brand Maggette or Wilcox. Will see if it comes together and we will see if the LAC owners provide the $ for the additional depth they will need, but if you add frontcourt and backcourt talent--lac are in the top 10 right now.
The Clippers are the NO Saints of the NBA. I mean Brand, Maggette and Wilcox have been their awhile. Kaman while impressive in summerleagues now joins the ranks of SL killers who forget everything during the regular season playing against real guys. To me this team is the most underachieving team in recent history. A starting line up and bench of top 10 picks. But you know what LB can still say they haven't made the playoffs since he left.

utah has both the 25th and the 27th best teams in the NBA. the state of Utah should seriously think about merging the two teams into one powerhouse

if they had gotten stoudamire then i can see your argument but they have no point guard, the same thing that plagues them all last year.

My top 30 prediction

Top 4 is tough to call, but here goes...

1 Indiana (very deep, more matured & good chemisty - i think they could go all the way)
2 San Antonio
3 Detroit
4 Miami (Chemistry prob/No solid 3pt shooter/Shaq's injury issues - return of Lakers '03/04)
5 Phoenix (can Nash stay healthy? Can they play the uptempo game?)
6 Houston
7 Dallas (losing Finley will hurt them)
8 Denver (if Spree joins)
9 Chicago (if Curry stays a Bull)
10 Sacramento (SAR & Wells were great pick up)
11 Cleveland (i think they need a PG & more depth to really be a contender)
12 LA Clippers (great team on paper)
13 Memphis
14 Golden State (played well towards the end of last season. showed they can play solid)
15 New Jersey (thank god they didn't add SAR)
16 Washington
17 Minnesota
18 NY (will take time to play defense & play well under LB)
19 Milwaukee
20 LA Lakers
21 Orlando
22 Seattle
23 Utah
24 Portland
25 Philadelphia
26 Charlotte
27 Toronto
28 Boston
29 Atlanta
30 New Orleans
