Try to keep up this time.

If we let him retire we still pay him, the same as we are now. His salary doesn't get taken off the luxury tax but you still can amnesty Shandon and save even more money. We gain the roster spot that Kool-Aid drinkers say is the reason for the move. This is just another example of how inept the Knicks management is.

Houston has nothing to do with my argument since I was never a supporter of using the amnesty on him.
You try and keep up. JYD was 21 million and Shandon was about 13 million. Waiving Shandon does not save more money any way you slice it, so get this........you are wrong.

isles, i think it's pretty evident they chose jyd over shandon b/c of the roster spot. no kool-aid here. there's just no other explanation other than opening that spot up for someone.

why would you use it on shandon instead of a player that isn't really a part of the future of this team, especially if you want lee/butler/john doe to make the active roster?

Well, to me, telling a player you're going to amnesty him could be a bluff from his standpoint. Maybe he thought that they were just trying to get him to retire. Maybe he felt that it was a bluff and that the team had a bigger need to waive Houston or Anderson. So maybe he called their bluff and got burned. THEN the reality check came. He probably felt that the Knicks wanted their cake and eat it to and he wasn't game to comply.
