they're not going to waive someone like Rose and have his contract count against the cap for 3yrs. Its either H20 because he's done and will never play over 15-20games again or Shandon. Problably Shandon so they at least save some money

The Knicks are rebuilding. They shouldn't care if the Nets sign a player they waive.

We have a decent chance of making the playoffs next year, so it does matter.

No it doesn't. Making the playoffs means nothing. Only championships matter.

i would force h20 to retire. if he says no, then waive him - CASE CLOSED. come on knicks, do the SMART THING for a change. i don't care if h20 is a 20 min player again - in the next two years, those 20 mins he gets with the nets or whichever "rival" that may be doesn't matter b/c we are not championship contenders. the fear he may go to a rival is so STUPID.

Absolutely correct. Right on point, DJ.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

And you can't win a championship unless you can beat your opponent in the playoffs. Playoffs are a necessary condition for winning a championship, they do matter. If you can make the playoffs you have a chance to win it all--how can people so soon forget the '99 run?

Only if you make the payoffs with the core you are building around. If you do it with journeymen like Rose taking minutes away from young players, it's not worth it.

'99? This team doesn't have the same level of talent. Not even close.

I thought only championships matter, now it's okay to give up a chance at a championship to develop young players? Our roster is not even close in talent to the '99 team? I think you have to argue that rather than assert it as fact.

You are not giving up a chance at a championship this year. I would be shocked if we go more than one round into the playoffs. Most times its possible to get a read on what type of a team you have. This team is not on par with the 99 team and you are not one of those that can get a read on the type of a team.

Exactly. The Knicks have zero chance of winning a championship this year.

I'm not putting anything past Larry Brown if we make the playoffs. We have players with expiring contracts who we can deal this season and improve the team further, you never know. Steph is better than any player we had on the 99 team.

I hope that what i just read from the post is not true. If it is, you better believe that Dolan has something to do with that decision. As we finally have a chance to make an intellingent financial decision, a decision that can save our ball-club $40 millions, we still have folks at the front office reluctant to pull the trigger. What a disaster?

The whole point is that the Knicks will save the most money if Allan retires before the season AND they waive someone else.

And just for the record, as of right now the odds on the Knicks winning the championship is 45/1 ...not 0.

if there's not '45' teams in the league, isn't that about zero?
shandon's gone again. and well deserved. we'll see about houston, i guess the third times a charm. we'll see, allan has alot of pride and if it does'nt work out this season, let's hope he can swallow it.(no pun intended)

No, I think that would mean every team would have an equal shot to win. The Hawks and Hornets are 300/1
