...yup, close to crunch time. Plus, the Knicks news has gotten scarce- no hints, no rumors... No one has posted any links about much AMnesty news either.

Media Blackout???
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Media Blackout???

The calm before the storm, I have to think there are some deals being explored right now.

My guess is the Knicks wont release H20...just a guess but I feel it - why wait until the last minute on this one? If it was that obvious they would have done it by now. Unless they are spending the weekend at his house trying to convince him to retire so they can waive someone else.

If Houston was a real trooper, he would have done what is best for the team. In all actuality, He doesn't have much to lose. If he retires, he can always unretire once the team uses the amnesty on another player. Retire to save the Knicks some money and unretire by midseason to help provide some of that good shooting

Houston owes that to the Knicks.... For 2 years, he took $30 millions + from us for no production what so ever.

We wish. Only players with real balls would do that. In other words, Allan never would. He's got a front row season ticket, why give that up? The punk doesn't want to play for his pay, just collect his guaranteeed money.

If Allan even suggested something like that, he'd get nothing but respect from fans who'd expect som honor from him after all these years.

3 days left; PLEASE let Allan go.

You mean you wouldn't give up 20 mil to be called a real "trooper"?

Maybe a better tact with Allan is Mark 10:25:

LJ retired when he didn't want to, because he didn't want to be cut and play for another team. I must say Allan has disappointed me as a team leader. Everyone gets on Marbury's case but Allan was team captain before Marbury got here and is still the elder captain. I think Allan enjoys the benefit of being the Knicks main guy. Appearing in commercials, grandstanding at Ewing's retirement, and being the man around town sort of thing. Him retiring would show me that he has a real interest in this club like a Herb Williams.

Actually the quote should read something like this

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a Jump shooter with Arthritic Knees to make a comeback in the NBA"

I applaud Allan for being a competitor and thinking he can play again. And, if he can, I'd love to have him.

But if he can't, he should be honest with himself.

And would I walk away from $40m if I already had $60m+ stashed away? Probably- he has enough money to be act on principal.

It's easy to say that. But he probably has multiple houses around the world, many cars, and other things. He'd probably have to sell a lot of his possessions if he walked away from that remaining money. This would take a lot of time and effort and would result in the loss of things he values. I'm not saying he shouldn't do it, but it's not so simple as just handing back a paycheck and moving on as if nothing really changed.

How many houses can he have? I doubt he'd have to change his lifestyle. And wouldn't Dolan see to it that he was compesated in some fashion if he retired? Like a front office job as cheif prayer leader of the MSG network at $20m per year?
