how did he get man-handled in the summer league? He scored a lot of points and played Dwight Howard to a stand still. His rebounding needs improvement, but he hardly got man-handled.

He got manhandled buddy. I watched atleast 4 SL games, and saw the box score and recap the others.

For a guy that's 6-11, 250, coming out of 4 years of Arizona, playing against the likes of Marcus Hasilip and David Harrison (and that's as good as it was gonna get), he should've dominated the glass and averaged 3 blocks a game.

Not only did he NOT do that, but he was in constant foul trouble.

But I'm realistic - he's a rookie PF. Whattaya expect?

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I watched a few of the Summer league games. Frye was frequently scored on at will in the post and his rebounding needs a ton of work. He was constantly backed down, and would frequently be in the wrong places in the transition D. Since he's going to be a mechanical player, he's going to need to work on boxing outto grab his boards. And by doing this, he needs to work on his overall strength. He's a real good runner, but his strength just isn't there. Some footwork improvement would also be a big help.

His scoring is not in question. He's very talented in that area and can do a lot of things with the ball, and can also be a good good overall offensive player. It's everything else that needs work.

He's pretty much a tweener though. He can be either a C or a PF, pending on the opponents. In no way though, is he a pure center.

In no way is that requirement to be a good starting center in the league

He's a frontcourt player Bonn, that's the point. We can't afford anymore mediocre frontcourt players overall. If Frye doesn't work on his strength, that's exactly what he will be.

To me, your "It's not a requirement to have a Great Center" is totally wrong. If you have a real good center blocking the middle and can score, rebound and defend, then you are putting yourself in great position to become a great contender as long as you have the right players around him.

The point is, I don't see Frye as being able to compete that much quite yet. If he doesn't add up muscle, he may never be, and this is as either a center or a PF. He needs to beef up, based on the type of player he is.

you may not need a great center to be great, but show me a team with a great center that isnt good.

it might take a few years before Frye comes into his own...in the end, i think he's more suited as a PF because of his build & his ability to shoot from the perimeter than a C, but he'll get minutes playing both positions.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I could see Brown getting Snow or Gary Payton for a two year contract. Not more.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
