The biggest trade ever... I wouldn't be surprised if that record is tied (or something comes close) during this season.

The mass player movement has only begun!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

You guys are nuts, I cannot see Shaquille O'Neal-Antoine Walker-Dwyane Wade-Jason Williams working. This is not NBA Live. Those four are a bad fit offensively and especially defensively. No way they beat Detroit or Indiana.

you could put shaq and wade with 3 scrubs and they would win

It's all the more reason that the Knicks need to continue to rebuild. They have no shot against Miami until and unless Shaq declines.

Yeah man that was the biggest trade in NBA history. Awesome.

It's just exciting. This is the type of league I want the Knicks to compete in. I hope Isiah can continue to build this team so we can get in on all this action. The competition is getting a whole lot better.

Walker got a $53 mil contract. Some people actually thought no one would offer him more than the MLE but he got almost double the MLE!

A couple of noteables in that trade. I think Walker will be starting at some point in the season, more than likely he will be starting at the 3 spot. He has a history of playing guys out of position. Reminds me of his love for Charles Smith at the 3 spot. Posey is very important for them because this trade kind of made them less of a defensive threat. Eddie Jones' defense is so underrated but Posey is a solid all around type player. I think it is now offical at least to me but that Marbury deal worked for the Knicks {please someone tell Mad Dog) Kirk Synder is now considered to be a bust, he had two bad seasons, two bad SL and this guy was suppose to be the most NBA ready player in that draft. Utah doesn't have a clue what to do, Ostertag why because Sloan understands him better than some of their new big men, Williams most be in great shape because I thought Raul would be the perfect backup to him.

You are right about the salary, it's like guys haven't been watching the NBA for the last ten years. Walker has been a very good player, a playoff performer, and an all-star. He was arguably the best free-agent available this off-season. They need to recognize.

People were saying a lot of silly things about Walker and they still are, on this thread. In my marathon posts about Walker I stated that we would be lucky to land him for around 8 mil. Others argued that he wasn't getting/worth that much and/or the we would have to trade our entire future for him etc. (Actually contradictory points.) They (he) have also posted in this thread, but strangely, they (he) haven't mentioned how wrong they were....why do you think that is?

You think we would have been lucky to land him at $8M because you want him on the team.

I say we're lucky to have not landed him at any price because i don't want him on the tema.

WHatever he got from any other team is irrelevnat to that basic difference of opinion.

Actually my point was not about whether or not I wanted him on the Knicks. I was speaking to his worth on the free agent market. Anyone who picks him up for 8 million or less would have been lucky because that is cheap for a player of AW's caliber.

Yes it is, you are correct. But that isn't what I was talking about.
I say we're lucky to have not landed him at any price because i don't want him on the tema.

Fine. I think he would have been the best player on our front line and second best on the team. Personally, I think we have just about the worst front line in the NBA.

Walker and Jwill give the heat some added playmaking in case shaq or wade miss any games during a series like they did last year.

As an aside.. this turns out to be an absolute STEAL for MIAMI.

Memphis??? I don't know what their motivation was.. or is for that teams direction! Maybe Jerry West has a hidden agenda, or he could be losing his magic... HEY MAYBE WE CAN GET PAU GASOL for PENNY HARDAWAY AFTER ALL!! Or what about my pseudotrade twist.. where NY gets PF-Gasol and C-Wright for SF-Tim Thomas, PF-Mike Sweetney and a fut 1st rd protected lottery pick. Isiah & Larry need to contact Jerry West before he sobers up!

Sacramento.. They needed a two guard, they added one, works out for them!

New Orleans seems like they got two players for free? A starting small forward in Butler and a decent backup two in Kirk Snyder.

Boston???? again no clue what reason they had for doing this trade. C'mon Curtis Borchardt? Qyntel Woods? (whom I'm hearing will be waived) A guy that likely won't make it to the league in "Albert Miralles" and two 2nd rd'rs???

He's building around Gasol with a low key, veteran, defensive team...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Boston seems to do trades as favors to teams sometimes. Though, they did clean up with their two second rounders this year.

I wouldn't call that "quality." They hate all those guys. They HATE Snyder, they were going to let Lopez go to Europe and I guess they feel Ostertag is an upgrade over Borchardt (which, frankly, he is).

I'm not sold that this is as much of a slam dunk for Miami as it might appear at first blush. They had great chemistry on offense last season-- Shaq was the go-to guy/playmaker in the post, Wade the go-to guy/playmaker on the perimeter, and they had excellent role players like Haslem and Jones feeding off of the opportunities Shaq and Wade created with great efficiency.

Bringing in Williams to be the full time PG is going to take the ball out of Wade's hands a lot of the time, which I'm not sure is a good thing. It also remains to be seen how well Williams' freeflowing game can translate to structured halfcourt sets.

And of course, the Heat are going to be worse for every shot attempt that Walker takes, since he's such a low efficiency player coming onto such a high efficiency offense. Even Walker's playmaking skills are diminished here, since Shaq, Wade, and Williams are probably all better playmakers. On the other side of the ball, Walker is among the very worst defensive forwards in the league (don't know about JWill's D).

Posey might actually wind up being the Heat's best pickup in this trade. He can defend, and only a season or so ago was putting up red hot offensive numbers for the Grizz. At worst, he should still be an adequate stand-in for Eddie Jones.

Don't get me wrong, the Heat will (probably) be better than they were last season. But don't mark them down as automatic for the Finals just yet. Suppose Miami clashes with Indy in the conference finals, for example. The smart money says that Artest is going to make an absolute fool of Walker, just like KMart used to do every spring. Assuming Walker is a non-factor (he'll actually probably hurt them more than he'll help), that leaves Posey in place of Eddie Jones and Williams in place of Damon Jones (assuming they don't resign him). It could easily turn out that Posey isn't quite as good for them as Eddie was, and it could also turn out that Williams' style of play doesn't fit in as well as Damon Jones's 3 point gunning did last season. So it's not even a lock that against a tough opponent like Indy, this new Miami team is much better than last season's.
