I'm not picking my guy yet, but what about Josh Smith and Josh Childress?

How is Ariza going to break out? Is he going to dunk with more authority? Because he sure as heck will not be lighting up the opposition with his jumper! As far as impact rookies go I have to go big and say:

Bogut
May
Simien

Their experience will help them contribute right away.

My breakout player is still TJ Ford--when you have options like Redd, Mason, Simmons, Bogut--and even Joe Smith to pass to, you should rack up a ton of assists.

Knight, how do you know that Ariza has not been working on a jumper this offseason? If Ariza comes out and scores 12-13ppg on dunks or whatever way he does it, it's going to be absolutely huge. Besides, who says this is just based on scoring? Ariza showed last year that he was an up and coming defensive player in this league and if he improves even more on what he did last year then we could be looking at someone who ends up with 10ppg/5-6rbg/1bpg/1.5spg. Anything near those stats or if he exceeds them would warrant serious breakthough player of the year mentioning.

i got 2 guys already mentiond - Krstic and Livingston - and i'd add a 3rd, Luke Ridnour.

Krstic already started his breakout in the playoffs. I think Kidd has confidence in him so will look for him. Plus with RJ and VC flying at the rim that'll pull opposing centers and Krstic is good at opportunistic follow-ups. Plus the sucker is putting a post game together. I HATE YOU ROD THORN!!!

Livingston - I cant' wait to see this kid really do his thing. He got 5 assists a game in his 20 whatever minutes as a lost rookie before getting hurt. i think he's ready to do his mad thing already and I can't wait to see it.

Ridnour - whoo, this kid surprised me. he's tough and in control. Should have an expanded role and greater confidence on this year's squad.

I like Ridnour, and pressure doesn't seem to faze him in anyway. He hit many big shots last year.

10 and 5 is not a breakthrough year! Maybe on a personal level but not in terms of making waves in the NBA!

Well whats TJ Ford going to do, I guarentee he averages no more then 9 assists per game (I think he'll average more around 7.5) and that will go along with no scoring from him. Thats not breakthrough either.

9 assists would put him in the top 2 or 3 in the league! Plus his ability to lead a team and make his teammates better...Ariza can't do that yet.

ariza ofcourse cant lead his team..when ford was drafted he was counted on to impact the team as soon as he came out..ariza was a 2nd round pick who drafted on potential not immediate impact

Exactly, because Ford is more talented!
