SAR not signing with the Nets for the MLE. Some of you guys need to get your facts straight before you jump on someone's neck. The Nets will have to do a sign and trade and the better come up with something Portland likes or this thing won't go down. So are the OVERPAYING for SAR? Hypocrits.

the nets were a couple of games better than us last year, we drafted lee, nate and frye and picked up Q rich, they signed Rahim.

And they are head and shoulders better than us...snap out of it.
RJ was hurt, so signing SAR and having a healthy RJ makes a big difference. They are a better team than us..........for now.

JAMES IS A CENTER. Since when do PF's get paid more than Centers? Mark Blount, Raef Lafrentz, Eric Dampier, Adonal Foyle... The list goes on and on...

coincidentally all those guys are bums too...at least we didn't break the chain in that regard.
This was funny. But thats how it works in the NBA, we took a chance, we'll see if it pans out.

Thorn is smart.

They got Carter for Kmart essentially which was a risk, and seems to pay off well.

They get Rahim to play power forward for basically the MLE!

Brilliant! They are going to sccore a lot of points and be very difficult to contain.

Kristic, collins and perhaps Songalia are formatble in the middle.

Nets record was hampered by most of season without Kidd, half without Carter and Jeff broke his wrist. I think the three played just few games together.

The Nets do all the things I wish the knicks could do.

But Before we do that, I do believe the knicks are finally on the road to redemption and doing the right things.

Its silly to sign guys like Raheem or swift when we are logjammed at the power forward, and need to get minutes to sweets and others.

this i agree with but my whole point is not about swift or SAR persay, but more about signing a 30 year old or hasbeen (vin) for the MLE instead of a 25 year old or a career 20/8 type player.

like fish said, bang for your buck - something isiah said he would try to fix, and took a HUGE RISK in this case. i hope i'm 100% wrong here but nothing gives me any indication i will be.

this thread is pretty funny. So far lets recap what we ave learned:

Boobs and Simrud are lovers

Our advantage over the Nets is they have nobody to guard James

"The team is overstocked at PF, and alot of them are immovable." Now that wasnt a reference to some of them being fat, it was a reference to their contracts, which despite evidence Bonn says dont matter.

Signing centers to bad contracts to rot on the bench and kill your team's flexibility is "how it works in the NBA"
"winning is more fun... then fun is fun" -Thibs

I'm pretty confident this guy is underage.

Kid, maybe you should go get a lollypop and just chill out a bit. The ranting is pretty unnessecary.

Once again beatch, shut your yap, who do you think you are telling anybody if they are a fan or not?

Just cause you are an idiot who doenst understand how the Nets are clearly better then us right now, doesnt give you the right to go around insulting my intelligence and callin me a Net fan for sayin the truth.

simrud, knock it off man. You are making yourself sound less mature when you take the arguement straight to namecalling and ranting. Stick to aruguing.

you are honestly saying kristic is head and shoulders better than james...I don't even remember kristic showing up in the playoffs.
Posted by simrud:

Nah, they are way better, they have a good coach, a real center, 3 superstars, blah blabh blah.

Man I hate the Nets!

i was very impressed with Krstic in the playoffs. Even tho Shaq didn't play all the games, Krstic did put up 18 and 8. He was tough too. i remember one play he took a charge from Shaq and got totally creamed, pancaked. I thought maybe the guy got a broken sternum or something. But he eventually got up, played, and was taking it back to Shaq, scoring over him. That pick was one of those ones where you do just sit back and shake your head in amazement at Thorn.

How am I takin it straight to ranting and namecalling if his response to me pointing out to him that the Nets have 3 superstar quality players, and a very good PF to along with a solid C, is "you are a closet Net fan, blabh blabh blabh..." crap.

He wanted to get into name callin and all that and he got his. I'll igonre him from now on. Too much honor to waste time agruing with somebody who doesnt understand anything about basketball.

I think it is better to take a wait and see approach until the season begin. Jerome James need to have the benefit of doubt that he can play center for the Knicks. It really would be silly if we signed another pf for the MLE. We would be a laughingstock going into the season without any semblance of a center. James is a center with size and skills which to those that don't remember is a premium in the nba. I don't care that James underachieved with Seattle, they obviously not took good care of him or whatever reason. His skills are there. A change of scenery can do wonders to players and we have all seen this happen throughout the NBA. SAR and Swift is not going to make or break the Knicks if they signed one of them instead. They are PFs and would need a center to play on top of their game. I for one am looking forward to the season now that we have a real center to go with the pieces we have. Let the chips fall where they may.

DJ, you're aware that most reports indicated that the Baker signing was an implicit part of the Jamal Crawford deal, right? Jamal and Vin had the same agent (Goodwin), who was going to orchestrate the Jamal sign and trade only if Isiah agreed to help out his other client (Vin), according to most articles.

Here is something that most fans failed to realize...This is the East men. Centers that played in the West don't fail playing in the East. I know that Shaq is now in the Eastern conference, but James may even make the allstar game if he learns to stay on the court for more than 25 minutes. Magloire and Z made it, James can too.

i heard this, and if that's true, that's awful and a pure WASTE of $$$'s and a roster spot.

I think all Baker needs is more minutes, I'm 50% sure he's stopped drinking now or will soon and can return to his All-Star form.
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

In this league, you have to remember that agents are very powerful. losing 5 millions here may save us 40 millions later...

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Sorry I did not format my post properly, does that make me Net fan, too?

Listen, when you start having actual ARGUEMENTS and stop flaming, we can talk. I have no problem admitting I'm wrong when I am. But you're just acting like an ass.....bro.

I told you the Nets are better then us because they arguably have 3 superstar players, in Carter, Kidd, and Jefferson, a very good PF in Reef and a solid ceneter.

Your resposne was, "you are a closet Net fan".

How is that an argument? You were the one to start throwing the dirt for no reason.

I was messing around with you.

Didn't realize you would take it as an actual insult, which still leads me to belive you must be 13 or thereabouts.
