oh gawd. Look, I would have preferred Bynum or Green over Channing as well. I was really hoping for one of those two. But Frye is our pick and let's just give him time and a fair chance. As opposed to, say, having no identity or thoughts except to harp over how Channing is a bust and gleefully leaping at every little shred of data that might support that idea, if stretched enough. It's gonna get really old really fast during the season every time there's a new thread talking about how Channing did something wrong-- uh oh, foul trouble, he's a bust! uh oh, he got dunked on, he's a bust! God, save it, please. Try to appreciate the difference between cogency and hyperbole.

Thankyou Tom, I agree with everything you said even the Bynum and Green part. After the draft was over I wasn't mad that we drafted Channing, only becuase I saw him fitting into this new system absolutely beautifully.

there are a ton of centers in the league with Frye's frame who can't stay on the floor for more than 25mins a game because of foul trouble. That was one of my concerns before we drafted him and the reason I wanted someone with greater upside and its still a major concern because instead of improving his foul situation from the last game he picked up 9 fouls in the first half. some guys just aren't born with much strength adding muscle doesn't help a guy like that as much as it would help a guy who is naturally strong. A guy like Camby makes up for it because of his length and athletism and the fact that he's a great shotblocker

i still think the best comparison for channing is Nesterovic a guy who can score but doesn't excel in any other areas like defense, rebounding and shot-blocking

Boxscore is up: http://vegassummerleague.com/box_score.cfm?game=33

Frye finished with 16 and 11, only 10 fouls. That means in the second half he put up 10 points, 5 boards, and only 1 foul. Oh, but he had 6 turnovers-- did someone say BUST???

Nate Rob dominated once again. Lee finished with 19 on 5-6 fg and 9-10 ft, plus 8 boards.

hopefully frye takes it as lesson learned and on to next game

but lets not forget to really give props to nate. I am now convinced he belongs in the same class of talent that was taken 3-4-5. I think that he is much more than even the Knicks management thought he was--it would be a crime to only let him play as a * tempo* player because he is a serious PG

Also, props to le, im eating crow on Lee, he has been very good. hey maybe he comes in and OUTPLAYS guys like jYD malik etc... we'll have to see.

I gotta agree with Guns here, b/c Frye, while adding 15 pounds of weight, didn't seem to add much in strength. And he's nowhere near the athleticism of Camby. He's destined to be a solid role player off the bench at the 4 and 5. I think Zeke drafted him in anticipation of making a serious push for the playoffs this season.

This rebuilding business is invalid unless Isiah doesn't get his man - Larry Brown.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Frye finished with 16/11 I say that is pretty good considering his first half.. I keep hearing frye is not as athletic as camby, that may be true but frye is as good of a athlete at 6'11 you are going to find in the league, his footwork is great and he extremely skilled. camby was a great athletle but had suspect hands, and his footwork and shooting motion were just all wrong and ugly, and a lot of time for a big man, I rather sacrafice some athleticsim for great footwork and quikckness in the post..

Lee was good again with 19/8 I said this before, this guy can play..

Nate again is just killing it, I love this kid..

Nice 2nd half from Frye. He corrected the foul problem and bounced back pretty quickly. Very nice trait.

Actually, I was off-- he had 10/6 and 1 foul in the second half. But who's counting.

Also looks like Butler put in another solid performance... 13 pts on 6-7fg and 3 boards in 26 minutes. Not too bad.

Beat me to it Tom. BTW, did we cut Aaron Miles or is he just not getting any burn?

Not sure about Miles. In the last SL game televised by MSG, they played Barber more at backup PG... don't recall seeing Miles in that one. Anyways, Nate logged 34 out of 40 possible minutes tonight, with Barber picking up the balance, so there wasn't much of an opportunity there anyway. Wouldn't count on anyone except the rooks and Butler making the team.

The amazing thing about Frye is his free throw percentage so far. He's awfully relaxed at the line, hitting a rather fundamentally sound 25 of 26. (96%+)

Doesn't matter who it was against. When people come here and list that night's stats on other players, the person that was defending them is not listed here. Who they were guarding and how much THAT person scored isn't listed either. Point is, it doesn't matter. I have yet to hear who was guarding Bynum and Green in their respective games. But maybe that's because no one cares. It's about what the player was about to accomplish.

Nobody really seemed to mention it yet, but I love the fact that they're playing Lee at SF. If he can add a jumpshot to his arsenal, that kid is gonna be a dangerous player...

I was thinking Miles might have a shot at an NBDL allocation from us, but things seemingly havent worked out.
