if brown is fired, i doubt he will come here. He is still in bad health, coaching may be too much. The knicks are too much of a project for him in his ailing state. I can see him taking over as Pres for the Cavs though.

Same here, I can definitely see him going to the Cavs even though I think we have a good shot. People forget that if he goes to the Cavs, he still gets paid by the Pistons so he would still get paid like a coach.

not if he gets fired...

No, if he gets fired the Pistons still pay him. If Larry leaves on his own then he doesn't get paid.

i was under the impression being fired meant you're tenure is ended, therefore you don't get paid. if he left b/c of illness or simply retird he's still technically under contract (like Reggie Miller)...

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

The thing is, Larry is under a contract. The Pistons can't just fire him and not pay him the money they owe him under his contract. If Larry wants to leave and decides he is going to go to another team even though he is under contract, then he doesn't get the money. But it doesn't look like that will be the case here. So if Larry decides to go to Cleveland and take that front office job (which will pay him less than what he gets by coaching the Pistons), then he essentially gets two paychecks, one from the Cavs for the front office job and one from the Pistons because of his contract with them. If Larry comes to coach the Knicks though, Detroit wouldn't have to pay him.

I don't think Marbury and Brown got along all that well during the Olympics, though in spite of it all, Marbury got tons of playing time and had the ball in critical moments.

not sure where you get this from...everytime Larry Brown was asked about Marbury on the Olympic team, he had nothing but glowing things to say about him...he made it a point to say how much Marbury had sacrificed in the way he usually plays the game to fit into the system Brown was running there, & that Marbury took on a leadership role w/the younger guys.

Let's clear up one point:

Larry Brown has publically stated that coaching in NY (and UNC) would be his DREAM job. This has been repeated several times.
Maybe he meant the NY Liberty!

You gotta give Isiah credit for waiting this long (even if we don't end up getting Larry) while other GMs might have been pressured to hire a coach. As a result of Isiah's patience, we might have a shot at one of the top 3 coaches in the game. While I think we have a good shot at him, I don't think it is certain that he will be our coach. I hope it happens though.

I agree. Whether we get him or not, I give Isaiah credit for handling this well.

No doubt LArry brown is one of the best coaches out there especially if a team don't have enough talent but I'm very concern with his health isssues...

If he's fit to coach then we go for him.. You must realized that when he missed about 17 games this past season coaching the pistons.

Pistons without Larry fell barely .500>>>>

If he had coached throughout the whole year, you never know that the pistons could've ended up with home court advantage throughout the entire playoffs including the finals..

I don't want him coaching the Knicks during the new season but to only see him coach 60 games due to health problems..

A few days ago, Mrs. Brown said, "my husband will not be coaching the NYK next year." Let's see who's wearing the pants in the Brown family.
BTW, in my opinion, ANY KIND OF COMPENSATION to the Pistons is really dumb. Some of you guys want to throw a 2nd rounder or cash...it's just plain idiotic. We need a young fireball coach with lots of energy who commands respect and who isn't afraid to get into your face.
That's my 2 cents worth on this subject.
We will NEVER win with Marbury as our cameo guy.

We won't be giving any compensation to the Pistons. If Larry Brown leaves the Pistons, it will be because he was either fired or him and the Pistons organization mutually agree to go separate ways. Only scenario in which we would have to compensate would be if Larry left the Pistons to come to us, that won't happen though.
