I think he's around 21 years old
I thought so, but it seems he's been around awhile.

No, I know the difference, but I heard about Travis when he was in about 10th grade.

Summer League or not, lets not make excuses for Frye, hes telling everyone he is not soft and his first game he makes a statment 3 rebounds in 30 minutes. Im all for the first game excuse after 4 years of high caliber CBB, but Channing go stick your F neck in there and get 7-8 rebounds please. I know some people will pooh pooh this, but this is an experienced 6-11 guy, why is 5-8 nate robinson outrebounding him?

I wanted Green, you can put me on the record right now, Green was my choice, and Frye sucks.

first game or not, some one from the knicks has to get in his face, dont let it pass. to me rebounding =toughness and effort and you hav a real advantage when you are 6-11. All I ask as a fan is effort doesnt matter if its game 1 of SL or 3 years into your nBA career. If you dont rebound against the chumps in SL--how do you rebound in the nBA?

now lets take some perspective and hope he comes back hard here, I dont care about the points, give me rebounds tomorrow. Rebounds will make points

it's always a gamble. i'm actually glad we went big. with that said, it was either frye or the guy who loves fries. plus, we still should be adding a 7 footer as frye develops into an nba player so we're in good shape. just stay away from walker by all means!

where would green fit? drafting green would have caused us to seriously restructure our lineup. getting green would have meant, no qrich, and bye bye to ariza.

I really don't think you're alone here. Even though I wasn't a huge fan of the pick, I'm reserving judgement until it really matters. Some of y'all, who I generally respect, have a real flair for the dramatic with your posts and statements, as if making strong definitive statements about whatever is going to make one look smart. Every showing in one game turns into the be all-say all of a player's entire career. Saying that those who are commenting negatively about Frye are those that hated the pick and are likely displaying some bias here would be a gross understatement. Certainly, Frye's rebounding numbers, and shooting percentage were not good, and Nate & Ariza apparently played well but I seem to recall a certain Knick years ago lighting up summer league after being drafter...

Hubert Davis

It seems rather premature to get crazy about the first game of freakin' summer league...

Lets wait to actually see this Frye on TV at least. I have a feeling there was a lot of long rebounds that Frye couldn't get to, especially looking at Telfair's horrid numbers from 3. I doubt Nate was crashing the boards to get those boards. I want to see this guy with my own eyes before dismissing him. I'd rather see Lee impress than anyone else, he was the biggest question mark at his spot talent wise. We could have had a lot of good prospects at 30.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

well lets give him the benefit of the doubt, I have seen plenty of games where shaq, duncan only get single digit rebounds, but they usually create space and opportunities by boxing out, taking up space and getting their hands on balls so their teamates can get rebounds... who knows...

The knock on Green, based on what coaches were saying, is that he's not a very intelligent player. All hops, very little bball intelligence. Not to compare him to LeBron, because LeBron's from a different planet as far as being a highschool player, but when you look at highschool players who came straight to the NBA (like LeBron and KG as well as a few others) these guys may not have put it together from the gate but they were said to love the game and it was said that they were students of the game. I can't speak for J.O. or McGrady but I can say that most highschool players that came in and made it happen had a certain understanding of the game and it took them a while to put it together (with a few exceptions). I think that many GMs and coaches felt that Greens gifts were almost totally physical. That's not all bad because that's how Swift is and I like Swift. But at the end of the day I want the player who will develop into someone who will make the smart play and not always the spectacular play. Some things don't make onto the stat sheets.
