Just a thought but maybe Isiah, and the coaching staff probably think he would be wasting space. Not to mention kinda of disrespectful to him. He will be a 3 year veteran, he now is the official starting PF (already has experience banging with the likes of Shaq, the Wallaces, and others), he had 3 year experience in college, was already in the summer league 2 year and did well both those years. I would fully expect Sweetney to dominate the summer league if he can already get it done against NBA caliber guys it wouldn't help his game. The summer league is about guys trying to make the team and used to NBA play. I expect guys like Sweetney to get trainers and work out on their own, work out with other teammates, or school alumni.

Besides Ariza,Frye,Lee, Butler, and Rob, which one of these nobodies do you think will make the team?
Probably none of them. We're starved for roster spots as it is... can't afford to spend one on an undrafted rookie if we're going to make MLE signings or trades where we take back more players than we give (like maybe in a Penny or TT deal).
But they might play for the nbdl team

"Mission accomplished. For the week in Long Beach, Sweets was the Knicks' leading scorer (20.3 ppg) and rebounder (10.8 rpg), starting all six games and logging a team-high 36.0 mpg."
"Sweetney notched double-doubles in each of his last three Summer League games, and his three 20+ point outings included a 30-point explosion against the Warriors. For the week, he shot a sizzling .569 from the field (37-for-65)."
"For instance, the Knicks knew UCLA's Trevor Ariza could play, otherwise they wouldn't have made him their only pick -- the 43rd overall -- in last month's NBA Draft. But the 6-foot-8 Ariza, who turned 19 only days before Summer League began, proved to be a revelation. Starting four games, he averaged 14.0 ppg and 6.8 rpg over 34.0 mpg, including a pair of 20+ scoring efforts, before a leg injury sidelined him for the week's final two contests."

I don't think Sweetney isn't on because he's being traded; how about because this would be his 3rd year in a row?
A lot of players do play on it their first 3 years. Unless the player is a star, he has enough to work on that he should be in the league. Sweetney should be there working on his game.
I don't think I agree. Lst year didn't he average like 21 and 10 and everyone was convinced he was gonna break out in the regular season?
It's time for him to stop dominating rookies and FA's and get himself prepared to do it in the real season IMO.
we can check but I think he averaged closer to 16 and 9 last summer. He had some dominant games and some quiet games if I remember correctly
Here ya go, with pinpoint accuracy. Sweetney: 20.3ppg, 10.8rpg.
Thanks Techno.

I was at least expecting that Isiah would call one of those 7 footers prospects that could go on to the NBDL and if lucky could get a role on an NBA team soon. Sundov isn't what I had in mind.

Some guys recieved nice reviews in the draft and weren't drafted. Maybe we could've gotten one of those. Morris would've been fine with me as a backup C to Frye in summer league...

I've watched a ton of KU basketball and I'm glad to see Miles getting a shot on the summer league team. He's not an offensive threat by any means but he is a great ball handler, distributer, and a tenacious defender. He will make a great backup guard for some team who has room.
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

Others on last years team included that little guy from Seton Hall urhm..... Andre Barrett. Temple scorer David Harrison was quite good as well, averaging 14+ppg. DerMarr Johnson didn't dominate as hoped and we dumped his *** to the curb to make room for the more promising Ariza.
Sweetney did all he could in the summer league last year. If he does it again, he'll risk becoming a summer league superstar and nothing more. INSTEAD, he needs to visit super-trainer Tim Grover in Chicago to get his body in shape, cuz the starting PF job is essentially his to lose right now.

Thats a great idea Techno. I'm curious to why Sweets hasn't done this yet, I honestly don't think the guy WANTS to lose it, it really worries me that he came into last year looking great and then he gradually went down and down and at the end of the year he looked back to pre-November Sweetney. Sweets needs to see Grover, he has helped so many players, I think it would be really beneficial for Mike.
