What is so excellent about the draft, fine Frye is ify he may be could

But why not take Jack he is the perfect backup?

And take a chance on Blacthe, David Lee may not even make the team or package those two picks and move up, it didn't make sense

How old are you MS????? look, you can't afford to have two rookies playing the same position. You have to have a vet to provide coaching to the high speed rooky. That is where a guy like Jerome James will come handy....

I really don't know why anyone is excited about this draft especially people that know the game....

What are Fryes numbers going to be, not better than Kurt Thomas thats for sure, he averaged 7.4 rebounds in college why are his numbers going to go up. Sweetney average 10 is 3 inches shorter than him.....And Blocking shots in college isn't as challenging as you think if you have the size...Green and Granger would have been the better pick in all honesty, even taking a chance on Brynum

The Suns pick for us I just don't understand, Robinson was not going in the first round, and you have a chance to take Jack (leader, tough defender took his team to the final four, at 6'4) or Hodge who is versatile can handle the ball and create mismatches, or even Petro, who we could leave in France and let him develop....We are rebuilding not reloading......

And the 30th made no sense, Lee is a good player but no for this team, we should have went big, Blachte, Taft, Martinas A, or someone...

Take a chance, Isiah will you instead of adding mega contracts for guys that don't play D, use you head for once

I think a C is in order for this draft

We could have had a future star, and a couple of nice role players, now we just have a couple of role players

Last night, I wasnt so thrilled about the draft but as I thought about it we did good. Just because Channing Frye averaged 7.4 rebounds in college doesnt mean he can be a double double guy in the NBA. Marbury only averaged 4 assists per game in college. Last night, I hated the David Lee pick, so I did my research and found out he is much better than I thought.

Lee, David 6' 7¾" 6' 9" 229½ 7' 0" 8' 10½"

Plus a 42 inch vertical...wow!!! This white guy can jump.

Then we got lil Nate Rob, 2006 Dunk champion, I dont like this pick but I dont hate it. I think he is a good defender and can play that uptempo game along with his crazy 45 inch vertical leap.

We got some leapers and a skilled big man. Isiah, I am impressed.

Wow, Jack is a fricking turnover machine. A famous one who was on TV a lot, but that's what he is. And all the "big" guys you listed lasted long after Zeke picked Lee.

MS - i understand what you're saying but this isn't like layden is drafting or that idiot from toronto.

look at isiah's draft history. he has a good track record in that aspect. so i trust him with these picks.

it's his trading that has us all scared.

seriously, not a knock against you, but everyone on these boards in general - we're freakin' fans. who the f ck knows what's going on in these workouts and interviews? he scouted blatche. maybe he didn't think he was anywhere CLOSE to helping for another 5 years. it's possible. maybe he thought nate was BETTER than jack. it's possible and the way nate plays the game, he will probably have more of an impact (that's just me guessing again - like we all do).

as killa pointed out to me, isiah mentioned david lee BY NAME in an interview once. he likes him as a player.

we all think some of these players have major upside but is briggs and the uconn insider the only ones that think bynum will become a superstar? portland had a shot at him AND PASSED after 2 workouts. why? b/c they already had pryzbilla? if bynum is a can't miss, they take a 7 footer no matter what.

it's very possible other players drafted after ours will be better but i'm VERY satisfied with the players we took.

it's not kool-aid. it's not isiah love. it's just how i feel.

I was just upset with the Nate pick because, we had the option of packaging the picks to move down I'm sure there would have been a couple of teams interested.....

But what is Crawford role, he is a combo guard so is he going to play the two or three.....

I'm sure Isiahs thinking is Robinson get 12-15 min a game brings a little electricity, and plays a little D, I would have rather gone with Frye or Garcia at that spot and Robinson would have been around at 30........

I just hope Frye turns out to be something special because i don't like his game, however the kid does seem like he could have a dedicated work ethic and the will to improve.....

Lee - Let's see. He has the ability to be a Pollard or Foster. Nice role guys with good bounding. NY needs that too.

Posted by Knixkik:

We also got David Lee, who was the most athletic PF in the draft, and will be a nice role player in the Chris Andersen mold, except maybe better.

Yo, why does everybody have to compare Lee to another white guy
around here? Why can't he be the next Antonio Davis, or Kevin Willis
or Chris Wilcox, or any other black player that you think matches
his skills?
You're all a bunch of racists. Everybody calling him a token white
boy. Isiah is the one guy that would never pick somebody cuz he's
white. Y'all racists.

panos. come on man, that is bit heavy to call people racist. You don't mean that, do you? anyway I am a black male and I love Lee, and I agree to compare him to white players is just ridiculous, because his game is not like any white player I have seen. I mean Pollard? come on this guy is much better than pollard. This is the problem with the NBA just like it was in pro-football.. The black QB always got overlooked, until they seen that guys like Mcnab, vick, culpepper could actually QB and call a good game... The same goes with the NBA, if he is white, people feel he is either a shooter or a hustle guy.. This guy can play, he is a 6'10 freak athlete, he is ambidextrous, can finish well with both hands, and is explosive. Now this may sound like a kool aid trip but I live in SEC country, I see this kid play, he can play the up and down game, a game the knicks are seeking to play..

#8 pick - Channing Frye
grade - C
- Isiah went the safe route here & took the player that could most readily contribute right now at the position they need the most help in, C...Frye is definitely better than guys like Stephen Hunter, he's more refined as a player & he can step out & hit the midrange jumper, so he works well off the pick & roll (& we have 1 of the best pick & roll PG's in the game in Marbury)...personally i would have much rather he took a flyer on Gerald Green, who i think will be the best player coming out of this draft when all is said & done...Granger would have been an equally solid choice for me.

#21 pick - Nate Robinson
grade - B-
- Isiah took a good exciting player to fill the backup PG duties, a position of need...i would have preferred he'd held out on taking Nate until the #30 pick came around though, but i think Knick fans are going to love Nate Robinson once he shows what he can do on the court...he's a more exciting player than Earl Boykins imo, & gives the type of spark that can energize the rest of the team...a better choice at #21 would have been Wayne Simien for me.

#30 pick - David Lee
grade - undecided
- At first, I was like "David who?"...but after reading up on this guy i think he can be a good player for us off the bench...only question is, what role will he play when we already have JYD, Mo T & Malik Rose on the bench backing up Sweetney? maybe Isiah has another trade in the works...i'm staying tuned & reserving judgement on this one until i see the rest of the moves he's going to make this offseason...i don't think he's done yet.

Overall grade - C+
- Passing up Gerald Green will be a move i think we'll all live to regret...watching him torch us in a Celtic uniform will just throw salt in the open wound...other than that, i think Isiah addressed the team's needs at C & backup PG acceptably well, & the Q trade helps us address the need at SG/SF as well...now if Isiah can only get that Al Harrington trade done, i'd change my grade to a B.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
to me, isiah gets an "A" for this draft...
