Yep. Harden lost it when he thought getting fat was his best leverage. Catching up to him

The man needs to just play and stay reasonably healthy. Do it and perhaps he gets traded mid year, or show as desirable. I suppose there is a number that can get him resigned or he has certain cities in mind.
The guy can play. His playmaking is very good and defense is there when he wants it to be.
Whats in his head? His heart?
He is surefire HOF with is resume.
I’d be ok with him a knick. But there is a price to it and he’ll want a new contract. Thats were it gets sticky.
The beard? Its kind of gross to me.

As long as you don't do a "Grady Dick" joke attached!

As for Mr Harden, he does not exude the professional patina publicly that Durant and Lebron have installed on us.
As fans we only seem to go on what we see, and if Harden is not doing workout videos but instead in Vegas we take that in.
Yet he can still play. If he does not put in the work his injuries will mount up and he'll be an expensive roster spot.
Philly, like other teams involved in aging stars are being patient. Perhaps they prefer to let his contract expire and they will reboot with moving Embiid at some point.
The paradigm has shifted regarding the CBA and how teams are looking at these guys. Clippers seem logically the ones to double down and add him but Philly has to take back money that perhaps does not suit their plans. Simple really.
Harden has painted picture of a player who is amazingly talented and nobody at that stature has not worked hard. At the same time he has created a bad aura about him given his choices the last few years.

Right on the heels of Silver hardlining Dame and his agent for suggesting he wouldn't play or wouldn't play hard for a new team. Suspend him without pay - if it drags on, suspend for the year and grant Philly a disabled player exception?

Frankly should just void the contact Harden opted into, but I know that's got to be far more messy and slippery than I would imagine.

No Dick jokes. But if we were to sign Christian Wood for the vet min, I might have some jokes.

I think Thibs would prefer to inject a Quick Grimey Wood into the lineup over dropping a Quick Grimey Deuce.

I don't think there exist a path to do this under the CBA. He is a no show, he is not paid. To void his contract there must be language that speaks to a "Breach'. If you void it he becomes a Free Agent. HE did not have to opt in so his actions speak to regret if he is no show with the intension of being set free. He could negotiate a $1 buy out? But Philly has a contract and extracts no value if he is granted to do this.
About time maybe NBA went for a breach but again, it give him Free agent status. Slippery slope.

Hell of a thing to say for Harden.
In the end, Harden will get his way. Its a players league and he a player.

Only thing we can go on is Harden made an illogical opt in perhaps under a pretense that he is now calling out Morey for? OR, he and his agent were delusional.

Harden is burning bridges and teams must be wary of him.

Honestly, the Sixers have been a soap opera for quite a few years. I'd love to see a Hard Knocks type show in that locker room. Also, does the fact that he's slamming Daryl in China hold any significance? Maybe one of the stipulations in a new show deal?

OK, league does have some things in its CBA that will mess this up for Harden. its why we don't see holdouts I suppose.

Despite James Harden’s public holdout threat, the 76ers might have the leverage. A clause in the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA) reads that “a player who withholds playing services called for by a Player Contract for more than thirty (30) days after the start of the last Season [of his contract] … shall not be entitled to negotiate or sign a Player Contract with any other professional basketball team unless and until the Team for which the player last played expressly agreed otherwise.” – via Lev Akabas @ Sportico

Makes sense. This way player can't be rewarded for holding out even if for a year.

Seems kind of weird he made this comment in China given Morey's history. Harden must be a handful for his agent.

He looking a bit porky in this pictures. Full face and all. He posting on Twitter his trip to China.
When he wanted out of Houstan a few years ago, he looked out of shape then. 10 days later looked like 30 lbs slimmer with nets.
(Windhorst reminded this in this mornings cast.)
