His top 3 rebounding seasons saw him at: 9.0, 9.1, and 9.6 RPG. He has a reputation for being a better rebounder than he has actually been. His rebounding has been amazingly consistent- between 8.1 and 9.6 RPG in the years he has played 50+ games, and he was out-rebounded on a pretty consistent basis by the smaller Marion when they were on the same team. His numbers have stayed about the same since Marion left.
Only 6.6 RPG in this years playoffs.
I thought he looked very awkward on offense at times- going to the basket and finishing poorly- especially when he went to the rightleft. He gets a lot of points on sheer effort, and has not really refined his post game IMO. There were times when I really though he played "small," despite some of the numbers he put up in the playoffs.
When you think about how many of his points have come because he plays with Nash, you have to wonder why that has not been brought up like Lee's pick and roll points under the MDA system have. Add to that the fact that he is not a good passer and is an inconsistent defender.
He is not a max player, from where I stand, and if you have a team where he will play as a as a PF, alongside a decent and rugged center, you can make a case that David Lee is the player who would make your team a better one.
