IT was a tough player, played with dennis and coached artest. maybe he saw something we didn't. That guys has an eye for talent, so instead of eating crow later, ill wait and see before shooting that pick down.

Knicks trade Isiah Thomas and Steve Francis for the 28th pick and an economy box of XL Trojans.

we'll he better be more than just a defensive stopper and be more like a ron artest to justify picking him at 20 over Marcus

I'd love to know what West thinks of Balkman.

8. Renaldo Balkman, 6-7, 205, Jr., South Carolina

If he can get on a team where he can see any sort of significant playing time, Balkman is my pick as most likely to become a crowd favorite. During the NIT semifinals and finals in New York, where he was named MVP as he helped the Gamecocks win two games with his nonstop hustle and athleticism, and again at the NBA Pre-Draft Camp in Orlando, Balkman literally ran circles around the opposition. It's hard to assess how he does it, but old-time scouts would say "he has a nose for the ball," which is shorthand for saying that Balkman seems to wind up in the middle of plays on both ends of the court much more often than he has a right to. Using moves that alternate between those of a long jumper and a ballet dancer, Balkman eases around post behemoths for tip-ins, beats guards to loose balls and seems to both start and finish fast breaks. For someone without much of a shooting touch, Balkman has a startling impact on games. If he can keep that kind of energy going, Balkman can find a place in the NBA.

If we end up with Alexander Johnson at 29 I'll be happy. Would have liked him at 20 instead.

4. Renaldo Balkman (South Carolina) -- 10.3 ppg, 9 rpg, 43.8 fg%, 60 ft% -- Similar to Amundson, Balkman came in with little acclaim and comes out with a greatly enhanced stock. Balkman helped South Carolina win the NIT this year. His foot speed and length make him a potential defensive stopper capable of defending the 2-4 positions. He also shows an excellent release on his shot despite poor FT shooting numbers. Balkman is a bigtime sleeper who could even find a spot in the late first round, and should end up a high second rounder.

Sounds like he is as good as Ariza who everybody loved. Give the guy a chance.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
