Then we can officially stop with any nonsense of contending for a championship. Woody has been thoroughly embarrassed as a coach this postseason and just look at his track record to see it won't change.
After Game 3 debacle, all his adjustments were for the worse and made no sense. This was a sorry performance for him.
Oh well, another mediocre period for the Knicks. I'll adapt this time and simply check them in the season and expect NOTHING in the postseason. There, I saved you guys following this team for the next few years.
Woody going nowhere = Knicks going nowhere
If getting the second seed in the east, 54 regular season wins and at least to the conference semi finals is the start of a mediocre period after the last decade+ I will take it. Guys that couldn't do that, Larry Brown, Lenny Wilkens, Don Chaney, Mike D'Antoni, Isiah Thomas. It is the middle of May. Tonight sucked and the Knicks seem to be having an epic collapse but they haven't been this far in 13 years. I don't think it is too hard to adapt to a team that is finally relevant.
Actually, this may be our peak. The Pacers will carry their playoff success to cement themselves as the 2nd seed and we'll see how the East is revamped.
Again, I'm serious about giving kudos to Woody for his regular season success, but please, see how he has coached us this postseason and see his track record and tell me if you belueve he can take the team to a real championship contention?
If you do, congrats, you have more faith than me. I have lost it this postseason and with Woody's own response after games.
Mediocrity?
Thats a mid-seed in the East, possible first round out, definite second round out. If you are ok with that, then Woody is your guy. As you say, mediocrity is better than the dark ages. Still, mediocrity won't get you anywhere close to the championship.
