What is the basis to win Exec of the year?

MOst improved record? Crafty signings? Profits? Homeristic adulation of internet fan base?

early on Billy King looks like a strong candidate as well as execs from Charlotte if they make the playoffs. Miami is the reigning champs and off to a strong start. OKC, SAS, Denver, and GSW all off to good starts with lots of talent changes.

How is it determined? List of past winners makes no mention of the http://criteria.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Executive_of_the_Year_Award

No knick exec has ever won it.

That is a very fair point. Many who aren't labelled haters have said much worse things about Knicks' players than anything you or I have said. It just hasn't been directed towards Melo.

yep..... just notice, the crowd is now turning on chandler... I see very little defense going his way, yet this guy has meant more to this team than carmelo has... in all fairness...

The crowd is not turning on Chandler. The guy is playing like $hit, so well deserved flak has gone his way.

The other guy is number 2 in the MVP race, and is getting more flak, undeservedly so.

you act as if that is the actual voting.. come on with that man... correct me if I am wrong.. is this official voting? i dunno..... it seems like so much stock is being put in that....I mean right now lebron is a clear cut number one, but I think Durant should be tied with lebron..... but that is just my list... go figure..

But hey I see your frustration here.... again, some of us are not buying this at all... to me, he is the same guy I didn't like while in denver... so for me, list like this, unofficial list mean nothing..

Let me guess, it should be Gallinari at 2 and Melo at 200.

here we go folks, another gallo mention.. and guess who didn't bring him up...

you guys really have no right to complain at all... self inflicted..

In your "unbiased" opinion, humor me as to where you would put Melo in the MVP race? Remember this is for "right now", not end of the season.

I'll C my way in to this question....

Doing a Rough Draft Top 10

1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Rondo
4. Zach
5. Duncan
6. Melo
7. Jrue
8. CP3
9. Mayo
10. 3 way Tie....Curry/Horford/Kemba

I have no gripes about your list 3G, seems fair. Just want to see if tkf can unbiasedly put a number on Melo for right now.

seems fair.. ok, I will do one better. I will put him ahead of duncan at#5, since the knicks did beat the spurs not that it matters, but I will give the benefit of the doubt there.... again, 5,4 3, does it really matter?

So does that mean...Melo is a top 5 player in the league in tkf's eyes???

All the backhanded comments is really a mask for tough love???

I'll take it.

MVP doesn't mean you're a Top Player per say in the league. Take for instance if the Bobcats had 3 more wins and Walker showed up in someone's MVP blog Top 5 list would that make him a Top 5 player?

You also have to keep in mind there are some players injured/have been injured who may factor into the equation....Kevin Love/Dirk/Nash...all 3 players on many nights if not for a full season I feel are better than Melo.

Unfortunately, you have to rank based on performances and games played, not on what if x player had been healthy.

As far as Kemba and other players making noise right now, the schedule and season will even everything out. For example OJ Mayo will come crashing down to earth once Dirk's back. Melo's been doing this over 8 years, so the numbers will likely stay around where they are.

Kevin Love went 23/24 last night and this is the reason he'll enter the discussion soon. It not based on a what if, it's based on what we know he'll do as a player and his team impact.

No doubt. Not his fault, but the T-Wolves are 6-7 at the moment so it'd be hard to include him in the discussion now.

Although the MVP award is an individual accomplishment, so much of it is dependent on the overall team success and record.

This is why guys like Kobe, Howard, Rondo, etc won't win it this year. They're all better players than Carmelo (maybe not Rondo), but their team's projected record isn't going to be as high as what it needs to be to win the award.

And this is why Carmelo IS in the discussion for it. Because he has the good fortune of being on a team that can attain a high number of wins.

An MVP award winner has never won the award without the help of a full roster.

Just so it's been said: tkf would take Rondo over Carmelo any day. And three times on Sundays.

#1 proponent of Homeristic UK board adulation! Yes, that's me!

Silly Knicks, they're homeristically terrific!

Now that Melo has the MVP locked up, and Grunny is the Exec of the Year,

How bout: Best Owner in this Solar System!

I'd take Rondo over Carmelo even before they were ever born

Rondo's 44pt game performance vs Heat>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Carmelo's 42pt game performance against Celtics

Rondo in big games on TV and against us>>>>>>>>>>>>>>anything Melo does

This is fine.

But as of today, he's just not as valuable to his team as Carmelo has been to his.

lol.. we can argue that we are 9-4 because of jason kidd as well..

we are 1.5 games up on boston and haven't even played 20 games yet, not even close... so that has no bearing on who is more valuable at this point.. the records are pretty much identical..

As I said before, the MVP award cannot be won without the help of the team. I'll go even further and mention JR Smith, Rasheed Wallace, and Raymond Felton being a huge part of Carmelo being in the MVP hunt. But let's be realistic, Jason Kidd isn't the best player on the team lol. He's the smartest.

I've never said he's in the race because he's a one man show.

You're living and placing too much stock in the here and now and your stance becomes more fickle game to game. Take for instance by the end of the night a half game could separate Boston and Knicks. And if we lose tonight regardless of what Boston does(if Kidd doesn't play) another variable added against this passionate desire of yours and others for Melo glory.

kidd is more than the smartest... I don't get how you guys conclude someone being the best player, simply because he leads the team in scoring.. Kidd has never lead his team in scoring I think, but pretty much has been the best player a majority of the time... kidd may well be the most impactful player on this team..

with that said, what makes you think rondo isn't getting the help of his team, or won't... there is a slight seperation between us and the celts...
