Marc Berman ‏@NYPost_Berman
After two solid summer league games ‪#Knicks‬ signed PF Chris Copeland. Played in Belgium. Thought he was active.

Aaron brooks to Kings for $3mil per year. Was rumoured to be returning to Rockets. Guess that means they know they've got Lin, otherwise he'd of waited an extra day to find out

Hassan Whiteside has been waived, to make room for Brooks.

I know briggs was high on him in the past.

As someone on our inactive roster to choose between Keith Benson/ Ivan Johnson for vet min?/ that Camby/Tyson Chandler can groom help develop...

OJ Mayo to Dallas. Dallas has quietly done a nice job adding Collison, Mayo, Dahntay Jones, Brand, Kaman:

O.J. Mayo announced on his Twitter feed Monday night that he will sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

Yahoo Sports’ Marc J. Spears reported on Sunday that the free agent Mayo had also drawn interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns. The Suns had been expected to make a strong push after losing out on restricted free agent Eric Gordon, whose offer sheet was matched by the New Orleans Hornets.

The 24-year-old Mayo earned $5.6 million last season with the Memphis Grizzlies, and terms of the deal weren’t immediately disclosed. He averaged 12.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game last season with the Grizzlies.

The Mavericks have claimed forward Elton Brand off waivers and signed center Chris Kaman and now Mayo after losing out on their biggest free-agent target, Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams. They also lost guards Jason Terry to the Boston Celtics and Jason Kidd to the New York Knicks in free agency.

They did a good job rebuilding on the fly. Mayo replaces Terry and Collison for Kid. They're bench is also solid. Not sure if it's enough for them to catch up to the rest of the West, but you can't sleep on them.

Yeah they are going to definitely remain relevant. Who knows, maybe Mayo really starts to shine this year w/ heavy minutes.

The Rockets did very well in the draft and on top of it getting Dontas Montejunas. Their rookies--by far Lamb Jones White Montejunas look very very good in comparison to many other teams who made only 1 pick. All of them look like high lottery picks--other teams high lottery picks like Robinson Beal(who has scored but also has taken a lot of shots and hasnt rebounded like college) Waiters etc have not looked as good. The one high lottery pick who has looked like a high pick is MKG he has been super from what I have seen---that will end up as the prescient pick of the draft from a high position.

Justin Hamilton's chances of making the Heat roster are declining due to a hamstring injury.
Hamilton is dealing with a hamstring strain that has kept him out of the first two summer league games for Miami. Considering the Heat already have 13 guaranteed contracts, Hamilton needs to make an impression if he wants to stick around. Jarvis Varnado and Robert Dozier, also members of the Heat summer league team, are both dealing with injuries as well.

Unless Heat signs then waives him, they will continue to have his rights, and I don't think he was ever signed.
So they would probably tell him to go overseas to save a roster spot, as we did with Jerome Jordan, and we don't even have the 2016 2nd round pick to offer, while give up both Greeks, and not getting a 2nd round pick and/or rights to any of Blazers's players.

Blatche is officially waived. No chance the Knicks get him. Semi young guy on a vet roster would be nice

The Rockets hit a grand slam without Lin. Im telling you Jones White Lamb Donatas are all high lottery pick talent ready to go and they also got Macahdo who looks like a very capable back up PG for a long time. To catch that many good players in one draft is an absolute coup while they are two-three years awat this team has a foundation of what the Okalhoma Thunder have.

Your boy Anthony Randolph is now a Nugget.http://tracking.si.com/2012/07/18/nuggets-amnesty-chris-andersen-sign-anthony-randolph/ Nuggets also amnestied Birdman. I'd take a chance on him, assuming he gets past his legal challenges.

The Clippers have a nice team, even better if they get Kenyon Martin back. Imagine
C DeAndre Jordan
F Blake Griffin
F Caron Butler
G Chauncey Billups
G Chris Paul
6.Jamal Crawford G
7.Grant Hill F
8.Lamar Odom F
9.Eric Bledsoe G
10.Kenyon Martin C/F
They need a big though maybe Darko Milicic.

Cavaliers in Dwight Howard talks
Ric Bucher [ARCHIVE]

ESPN The Magazine | July 18, 2012

The Cleveland Cavaliers may have inched ahead of the Houston Rockets as a facilitator in a potential trade that would send Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources said Wednesday.

One source familiar with the talks, though, cautioned not to make too much of that shift just yet.

The Cavaliers would land Lakers center Andrew Bynum for a package of draft picks and veteran power forward Anderson Varejao, according to one league source. The Lakers would receive Howard for Bynum. Orlando would get Varejao and draft picks. The source said this was merely the framework of a deal being discussed.

Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant was in Las Vegas watching summer-league action but made an unplanned return to Cleveland, sources say, and is not expected to return. In the frenzy of anticipating if, when and where Howard might be dealt, such otherwise innocuous events have been enough to inspire massive speculation that a deal is near.

The Lakers have engaged both the Rockets and Cavaliers in their attempt to land Howard, sources say, because those two teams have both interest in acquiring Bynum, and have the requisite salary-cap room to accept larger player salaries than they send out in a deal.

The complicating point for any deal to be completed, sources say, is whether Bynum and Howard agree to extensions with their next team. Sources close to Howard say that as of now, after mistakenly depriving himself of free agency this summer by opting into the final year of his deal with the Magic, he has no intention of doing so again.

ESPNLosAngeles.com reported the Lakers remain committed to pursuing Howard even without assurances he'd sign a long-term extension with the club.

The Rockets have had Howard at the top of their wish list for months and have made moves to pursue him, from collecting first-round picks in the draft to using the amnesty clause on Luis Scola. Information from ESPNLosAngeles.com's Dave McMenamin and Ramona Shelburne was used in this report.

At this point, I'm just waiting for the Dwight Howard press conference at Staples Center with his new purple and gold #12 jersey.
