Really?

Mray20 - What are your sources of this bogus information?

Mike Woodson was not highly thought of by sports writers who refuse to do any homework or research. Did anyone ask NBA executives or players what they thought of Woodson? Stop putting so much value in second-hand opinion from people who never played the game.

We dancing on others graves after 3 games?

the experience will help MDA in the future. Our Pt guard situation was a very problematic in his tenure. When had a good PG (not great) the team did ok. Felton did well, Lin did well. When he had to deal with TD and Melo at the pg it was a problem.

I think good coaches evolve and Woodson brings experience to the table.

MDA was the wrong coach for team he had. In PHX he had his PG who became 2x league MVP. Thats the power of chemistry. Right coach with the right player. He'll coach in Cleveland with Kyrie when Byron Scott gets too lazy.

Woodson appears to be the right guy for this group. Woodson had pretty good sucess in ATL. Also don't forget he was a rookie coach and they don't have much juice in the organization. Im not sure he has much here but the more you succeed the fatter the juice card gets.

He is doing a good job. Its about the games.

I think he hates Woody because he thinks Woody hated Lin and wanted rid of him, from what I can remember. Syniko is a Lin fan first and foremost, don't think he's interested in the Knicks so much.

Here are a few key indicators:

-- The team's turnover percentage? The lowest in the league (12.1), after having the fourth-highest turnover percentage last season (16.6).

-- The team's ball movement? Superb. After having the most isolations in 2011-12, including ones that resulted in a pass (1,372), they're ranked 11th this season (3.8 fewer isolations per game). Not only are the Knicks ranked in the top 10 for field goal percentage, but they're also the most efficient out of any team on the block (1.28 points per post-up with a 56.7 shooting percentage). So far, the Knicks have posted up 39 times, and Anthony accounts for 30 of those (Rasheed Wallace is second with eight).

-- The team's offensive production? They're playing at a much slower pace, but it's a very efficient one. In fact, their offense is more efficient than the one under offensive-minded Mike D'Antoni. While they have four fewer possessions per 48 minutes this season, they're scoring 1.8 more points per 100 possessions. Overall, if you compare D'Antoni last season to Woodson since then, Woodson's squad has scored 107.0 points per possessions, compared to 98.8.

A slower but more efficient pace naturally benefits the defense, which is why they're giving up 10 fewer points per 100 possessions. While they allowed 106.8 points per 100 possessions under D'Antoni, it's only been 96.8 under Woodson, as they've improved guarding the pick-and-roll. After ranking 20th in points per play in 2011-12 (0.92), they're 13th and climbing this season (0.85).

"It's pretty unusual and coach Woodson likes veteran guys, because veteran guys pick things up real quick," John Starks told ESPNNewYork.com. "You don't have to go over things a long time in order to get things accomplished."

No, I dislike Woodson because I love Mike D'Antoni and was absolutely crushed when he resigned. Lin was just the sweet bonus. Toney Douglas? please. Knicks needed a good to great PG whether it was Lin or not. Now they have a great veteran PG. Knicks are off to a great start and they WOULD have gone 4-0 even if Lin were still part of the team.

Nothing changes. Knicks were already a good team in the making.

D'Antoni was in NY for 4 years. CAn you tell me what you really liked about him while he was here? I can tell you that I don't miss the horrible losing streaks that his team annually had coming out of camp.

From Hahn's column:
The third quarter last season for the Knicks was, as Bill Pidto would put it, a toxic situation. So many games were lost in that quarter alone, it became a regular topic on the Ford Knicks Post Game Show.

The Knicks were the sixth-lowest scoring third-quarter team last season, at 22.7 points per third quarter. They often came out of the half flat on offense and it cost them. Who knows, it may have cost them enough wins to get the Atlantic Division and potential home-court advantage in the first round.

This season so far, the Knicks have reversed the trend. They’ve used the third quarter to take control of games, to hold off anticipated counter-attacks by opponents, and to take control of games before the fourth quarter begins. Statistically speaking, the difference so far stands out with their standing as the fifth-highest scoring team in the NBA in the third quarter (26.5) and second-best defensive team in the third quarter, allowing just 20.5 points per game in the third.

What’s the difference? Adjustments by the coaching staff, for one, but a notable difference is a mindset that starts in the locker room when the players talk before they head back out to the court. In Philadelphia, after the Knicks rallied from an early 10-point deficit, they talked at halftime about how great their potential is for a team that is still getting to know each other. Then on Friday, after taking a two-point deficit into the half, Tyson Chandler, one of the strongest voices in the room, laid down a challenge.

Makes no sense. Woodson had nothing to do with MDA resigning, and saved the Knicks from being a lottery team last season.
