So is the word "Nappy" a racist term or is it just a word describing someone's hair?

Both. Is "slanty eyed" a racist term or just one that describes someone's eyes? Is "towel head" a racist term or just one that describes their headdress? Is "whitey" a racist term or just one that describes skin color?

Honestly, I think those are bad analogies.

Do asian people tell other asian people that they have "slanty eyes"?

Do people from india call other indians "towel heads"?

Do white people call other white people "whitey"?

Is saying that someone has "ashy" skin, racist too?

I have to say, I find this line of reasoning very ironic coming from you. Maybe I missed something else, but I recall a thread where rvhoss said he thought you were a black dude with dreadlocks. When you told him you were Asian he posted a picture of a chubby Asian kid along with the words "is this you?"

You ran up and down the board calling him a racist simply for posting a picture of an Asian boy. Why? Might it have something to do with what you presumed to be his intent?

At the end this is about freedom off speach right.
Do you want to sacrefise this fundamental right in attempt to prevent people express opinions that some communties doesn't like? It's up to people to listen or not.
You start regulate it and at the end you get only "freedom" like was in soviet countries when you can say only what allowed to say.
We see the fundamental right getting attacked in US on all fronts by goverment, by congregations and different groups.
I would be more upset with restictions on what you can say on the radio that whith what was actually sad.

arkrud - Imus is free to say whatever he wants.

Please, let's be perfectly clear

He, or anyone else, does not have the "right" to have a company or corporation to sponsor derisive comments using the mass distributed media which is subsidized by those same companies.

I am confused here. I missed the part of the story that had Imus being led away in handcuffs. Was that after he left the governor's manison. Was he prosecuted for these acts. Was his family gathered up? Soviet Union. I thought he was fired but I agree he shouldn't be arrested for making those comments as DJ Star was by the NYC police.

Anji - those "chicks", as you called them, were someone's young daughter. They are college-educated women. If you don't think they deserve better than what Imus described them, then you should walk up to a woman today and call her a "chick".

hold up, I almost forgot...

It is because dude is a troll. He doesn't really care about anything, he is just here to fight with people. When truebloser dropped the "jigaboo" and spook" terms on Isiah after the brawl, Rich called truebloser on it a minute later. Did viles chase Truebloser around for weeks and months calling him a racist? No, he went after Rich.

That tells you all you need to know about this: "man", his character, and his agenda.

What other reason could there have been?

Were people denouncing rvhoss for it? Were you?

Yeah, there's an unbiased opinion.

This "man" had to be chided by strangers on a message board to get the hint that his obnoxious ways were antisocial behavior.

You still upset oohah? You need to get over it already.

I hope you don't spend another Saturday night, alone at home, sweating me.

I thought he was ridiculing your weight, or perhaps insinuating you were but a child.

And truth be told, No, I wont defend everyone from every joke. I enjoy giving and taking a ribbing, but do take a stand at the voting booth.

Regardless, if you can be sensitive enough to draw racist innuendo from a picture of a chubby Asian boy, why not from racially charged language?

This is extremely troubling. I think it would be smart of you to refrain from posting on this thread because you are now coming off in a manner I don't think you really want to come off.

Local talk shows here in buffalo are using mr whitlocks article to fuel their alreadt racist nature. They think black people disrespect themselves, that it's open season on them then for everyone else to do the same? That's about as lame as arguing with a cop that you weren't the only one speeding so you shouldn't get a ticket, or saying you shouldn't get jail for raping a female because look at how she was dressed, or saying I saw Girls Gone Wild.

Using the logic of that author we could just go around doing or saying whatever we want to whomever we want, then cop out by saying "well they say/do it too."
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

What I'm understanding is that there are double standards.

Apparently it's ok to ridicule asians solely on the basis of their ethnicity.

I think this is what Blue is saying: even if "nappy" is not an inherently racist term (which I guess is up for debate), the context in which it was used was definitely racist. Just like, a picture of an Asian man is not inherently racist, but was construed as racist, by you, because you inferred an intent behind the posting of the picture.
