Balkman, who has raised his level of play to never-before-seen heights in the NIT Final Four, couldn’t agree more. “I know the streets of New York and I LOVED playing at the Garden,” he intoned in his pleasant basso profundo. “Man, that place was magic. It inspired me to do things on the floor I never even knew I was able to do.” Balkman, who’s often been called “a poor man’s (Dennis) Rodman,” takes that comparison as a great compliment. “Sure,” he smiles. “Sometimes I feel I’m just like him. I like to go out there, play hard, do whatever it takes to win, running the floor, hitting the boards, jump into the stands, cause havoc, whatever.”

“That extra energy and hustle is the key to my making the league,” added Balkman. “I fully realize that.”

Blakman's wingspan is 7'1, incrdible for a 6'6 dude. But

As long as Isiah is the GM of this team, I'm gonna support the Bulls.

Not really, but his actions thruout the past 2 yrs (or however long he's been with NY) makes me want to.

Not drafting Marcus... what a sad day.

Out of all the teams in the NBA you select the Bulls. That's low man real low

Well, the knicks sponsor the Bulls, don't they?

Lowry to the Grizz
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

doesn't Balkman double up Lee?

No, this guy can guard the perimeter.

What's up with Williams something is up. Reminds me of when John Wallace drop in 96. Everybody screaming omg, how can all this GMs be so dumb and the rest is history. I don't think Williams is no bust, so there must be something else. The computer thief probably a big deal to a lot of teams?

Well...no Boone or Lowry for us.

The comment about it being an ego pick is interesting, and could be accurate. The reality is that Isiah needs the Knicks to start winning now and Marcus is not going to play with this current roster, of which most of the guards are difficult to trade.

I don't necessarily like the pick at 29, but clearly Zeke wants a guy who has energy, can defend, block shots/make steals, etc. Balkman did block 1.7 shots a game in college, so he does have energy.

Based upon what I'm reading he does fill a need for the team, and since most of the IMMEDIATE needs, based upon the current roster as is, this guy can help. If he's 6"6" and athletic, why can't he be a defensive stopper at the 2? Of course, he has no jumper, so that hurts, but he can be a situational player.

However, as most of us Knick fans know, picking need instead of best player available has hurt us in the past...

Weiss vs. Artest being most memorable, of course.

If we hold onto him, we'll see what he looks like for us in Summer League.

That's the steal pick of the draft right there! Lowry can play and will shut down a lot of speed point guards. Lowry is stronger, tougher and better than Rondo. He could shoot in high school. Maybe he didn't get a chance to shoot with Foye and Ray.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

One thing to add, is why take the guy at 20 instead of 29 and take Marcus at 20.

If some writer can get a quote from another GM that Balkman was a 1st round pick, I would feel better.
