Politics aside the only dumb thing Dolan did in the playoffs is inviting the president to a game. That was a huge distraction and security nightmare

Expect a warm welcome when SA returns to the Garden next year.

It's funny but I've heard no one panning the Spurs for night shaking the Knicks hand before walking off court. Isiah Thomas got **** in 89 for that, and LeBron caught flack during his first stint with the Cavs for the same "lack of sportsmanship". Whether the media chooses to acknowledge it or not, Wemby has quickly become of the biggest POS's in the league. I hope the dude never wins anything after the way he carried himself this series

FWIW Luke kornet shook the Knicks hands and congratulated them. Wouldn’t mind seeing him as a Knick again

Agree - always liked Kornet when he was with us. Not sure why Spurs didn't use him as a 3 pt threat when Robinson was guarding him to open up the paint a bit.

Kornet has taken about 20 total 3 point shots in the last 5 years

I know that Mazzulla stopped him shooting threes when he left for Boston but if you remember he came in the league as a stretch 5, shot 36% from 3 with us, hit 7 in a game, etc... just think SA could have used him to negate Mitch Rob's impact near the basket by pulling him out. Glad they didn't btw

Completely agree Matt, next year the NBA will hyping the rivalry big time.

The addition of the 1999 NBA Finals adds another dimension, still marveling at the reversal of that series score line, 27 years later. Would take an NBA Championship against anyone but beating the Spurs, of all teams, flipping the history, perfectly and against this Spurs team, that's shown a good dose of arrogance, immaturity and unsportsmanlike behavior - priceless.

It's been so hard to settle in to work this week!

Congratulations to all posters on this board, so happy for you.

PS - watched game 5 again a couple of nights ago, that defence, wow, talk about locked in, all of them, then the tiny little offensive cameos from Bridges, Hart, OG and Shamet to just help JB get this team over the line.

Must admit, enjoyed the game so much the 2nd time, marveling at Brunson, this team and basking in the glory.

JOB's DONE!

Enjoy the parade later this week New Yorkers! - all my love and God bless you all.

Larry Brown used to leave teams after 5 years becaue he felt players usually needed a new voice to move forward and his effectiveness.
Phil Jax primarily felt preperaton and coaching was strongest but big was players being accountable to each other during the game and self correcting during a time out. He had the Alphas the do this. So did Mike Brown.

Leon managed Thibs five years and change properly. Kudos to Dolan for paying Thibs. Lets be real, Leon obviously in hindsight had a high conviction for this team and for Thibs. He extended him with that belief but had to have his doubts never the less.
If as rumored the team was not happy with Thibs, nor FO not playing the bench then things had to evolve.

Thibs has a good track record of devloping players. Not talking fringe role players. With Knicks he did real good with Randle and played a role in getting Jalen to this level. He got Kat back to a great level of play and set the table for what came next. OG took the next step offensively and Brown did make things a bit easler for Jalen.

Curious when Knicks were lookkng at interviews how serious were they with Jason Kidd? He had coached Jalen for one year prior to his departure.
A year later Kidd makes his power play AGAIN and leaves under "mutual departure" circumstances. Seems the same ower play he did with Nets and Milwaukee.

Obviously Mke Brown proved to be the right hire! Leon freaking nailed it.

I think its a mixed bag. Quick loved him. McBride hated him.

UK "crucifying" is not always the abosolute truth.
The vets that improved under his tenure. Jules for example. Mitch, OG, and yes Brunson! If Thibs was seen and COY honored for those teams exceeding expectations then he did some things.

Look at who had in Minny and Chicago. He took good players and raised their ceilings.

At the same time he likey as you said infuriated his FO's in Chicago and here by not looking far enough ahead or giving players room to breath. He did well with Deuce but had OBI highly frustrated. Yet he forged Jimmy Butler who needed a few years to get it right.

Mike Brown did "experiment" thru the season and perhaps it cost some games were Thibs plays to win every game like its the last and will use what he knows to win it. Brown gave time to Mo, McCullar, and Kolek thru the season to keep them ready. While he had mostly better health, he allowed Shamet to play thru some things and it paid off very well. Thibs did this far less.

I have not watched it again but have the 2nd half of game 4 and no doubt knowing the outcome is far more enjoyable especially without the stress/axiety! The "Tip" is just the icing on the cake!
