Thibs with more flexibility and adaptability would probably be the perfect coach for this team.

Not saying he isn’t a good coach. I am saying that I’m not confident that Kidd will get everyone on the same page, or handle the pressure of coaching at MSG.

Also thought he shouldn’t have benched Hardaway for the playoffs, during their Finals run. That was a mistake. Don’t want to see players who can contribute, riding the bench. Had enough of that with Thibs.

To be fair, Hardaway played like crap for half the season.Cant really get on Kidd for that

Timmy is the ultimate choke artist who only gets buckets against the Knicks and he completely disappeared vs Knicks this year when it mattered for Detroit. Knocking Kidd for Tim Hardaway benching is a huge reach.

Was the same deal with Rolando Blackman in 94’ THJ is a shooter, Kidd should have given him a shot. Played well in the postseason for Detroit.

Timmy shot 2-13 from 3 in games 5 & 6 vs Knicks -- he is the ultimate let you down player and his D is Kat like for a guard.

Not sure how Kidd getting into a car accident 15 years ago is relevant. He’s been a good coach everywhere. Did a very underrated job in Milwaukee and got to a Finals with Dallas. He was good at MSG as a player and that’s after he was the second greatest New Jersey Nets ever for 7 years. Yes playing at the abandoned swamp in East Rutherford is obviously not the same as MSG but the Knicks were horrible at that time so the nets were the only show in town for nba during the early 2000’s Kidd was definitely in the spotlight.

It was relevant because he was drunk, it shows a lack of leadership. Something about playing in NY, different kind of pressure. Not so sure Kidd can handle it.

And people change. Just because Kidd had an alcohol related incident 15 years doesn’t mean he can’t function as a coach clearly he has for 10+ years now.

You’re right of course. People can change. Dont like the fact that it happened right after signing with the Knicks. Would rather sign a young assistant coach.

DWI is the first thing I think of when I see Kidd.

He's a dumbass. But apparently a high functioning dumbass.

Hall of Famer Kidd is a dumbass yet you continue to die on Julius Randle island -- come on Todd that's very disappointing

I’m still not convinced about this one…

But let me guess - you would be convinced if we hire the great Johnny Bryant. Is that right?

Jason Kidd's coaching philosophy is centered around empowerment, adaptability, and a strong emphasis on defense and fundamentals. He believes in giving his players a voice in the decision-making process, fostering trust and encouraging ownership of their performance. This approach creates a collaborative environment that enhances team chemistry.

Kidd's coaching style is also marked by his ability to read the game and make adjustments on the fly. He employs strategies such as switching defenses, player movement, and press defense to exploit opponents' weaknesses. His practices are known for their intensity, pushing players to their limits daily.

Additionally, Kidd focuses on developing his players both on and off the court, reflecting his deep understanding of the game gained from his own playing career. His methods aim to build a cohesive team capable of excelling on the court through effective communication and strong relationships.

Sounds exactly like the type of coach we need. Bright, innovative

Does it mention that tree he hit 100 years ago prior to leading Knicks to 54 win season, becoming a hall of famer and taking Mavs to finals 2 years ago?

I consider getting behind the while hammered worse than any spinover that Julius committed.

But I see your smiley, so I'm guessing you agree.

I'm curious to see what Julius decides in the near future, and what kind of payday awaits.

some remember Kidds Hamptons DUI crash and marital domestic issues from years past. Also his arrogant wild tenure in Brooklyn that he went from midseason near firing to hot finish and a backfired power play in BKN. His tenure ended badly in Milwaukee with Giannis saying he had a nice relationship with him. Its not uncommon for players to say nice things as relationships are complicated. Does that mean he still feels this way and wants to work with him? Or we just pretend we know these things?

Yet fans will hold that coaches are like players and don't change. They often do. Kidd was not offered a HC job until he proved himself with Lakers.

Thibs is still the same man but has also evolved both as a person (Intelligent people do) and as a coach to some extent.
Not like he failed here by any stretch.
I give Leon full authority to evaluate Kidd as the fit we need. I don't have to love Kidd. The players do.

Knicks offense had people thinking a defense that included Cade, THJ, Beasley, Shroeder, and Tobias Harris was the next elite defense

Kidd must be thankful that we're only focused on the DWI and have completely glossed over the wife beating.

Honestly, all are a huge risk, and at the end of the day, once the decision is made, we will all hope it was the best decision. I started this process hoping for a young up-and-coming coach for this seemingly new era of the NBA, but I’m giving more and more importance to the argument that this is a veteran team that might be better suited for an experienced but flexible coach like Kidd.

Kidd to get the Freak? I’m in.
Maybe we get away with Bridges, Hart Deuce and picks . May take MR instead of Hart.

Fans should be warned that Kidd, like Thibs, likes his starters to play big minutes and prefers vets and shorter rotations.

Yes - saw something today where Wolves are hopeful but not sure he won’t opt out. I think cap restrictions across league may restrict Julius options and also think Minny could move him this winter if he extends with them.

He’s a weird situation because very talented but he’s not a 1, maybe not a 2 and he doesn’t defend and can get cranky —- I think most teams like him to a point but maybe don’t value him like Julius sees himself.

Does anyone care that Brunson on Roomates podcast said Kidd was his 2nd favorite coach (behind Thibs - not Johnny Bryant) because Kidd taught him to believe in himself and gave him freedom to expand his game.

I’m going to also assume that if Kidd was a crap coach otherwise Jalen would not mention him.

Im not sure either way. If its a negotiation or not.

They may want to keep Kidd considering he got them to the Finals. As well as wanting to keep the fan base from getting any angrier. Continuity would also be good for Flagg.
