I got killed for speaking out about his coaching but now it's even more evident that he's not helping this team to get better when it counts. IN THE PLAYOFFS!!! That's really where a coach earns his money and shows his worth. If you have a good team anyone can get to the playoffs, but once you get there your coach is needed to put his team over the top. Woody barely got out of the 1st rd and so far he's done next to nothing in the 2nd rd. He's got another chance to step up, but I wonder if he even can.
I don't know about all the wrong moves but I don't know why you bench Prigs and then give him no minutes. I was disappointed that he took Cope out after he hit that three also. There was no offense and a guy that can give it might have been getting hot. Not a good night for Woodson or the team in general. His loyalty to Kidd is pretty frustrating at this point.
You're pretty much confirming everything I said. IMO when you lose in the playoffs as much as this team has under Woody and coming into this game we needed a strong start to build confidence, i'd say all the things Woody did in preparation and in the game were the wrong moves. Not much worked that's for sure. The playoffs is when a team needs the coach most. When talent is so much closer between teams you need your coach to give your team some kind of advantage. Woody has mostly failed in this regard. The Celtics weren't equal to us in talent, but the Pacers are, so we needed a great performance from Woody. He just hasn't had any answers.
I disagree. I think there are a lot of personalities and a lot of guys that might be classified as knuckleheads that Woody has been able to mold, support and keep functional for a long time. The talent on the Knicks is not that great. Yeah they have a ton of money invested in 3 guys but only one is producing and one is non existent. Woody is loyal to his vets to a fault but make a list of coaches that aren't. I think he needed to play Prigs tonight. I don't think that gives the Knicks the win the way the rest of the night went but I think it was the smart move. My gut says Cope should have played more. Woodson coached the Knicks to the second seed in the east. He got more out of JR then any coach ever has. No one could predict his epic collapse. No one could predict that Kidd would go scoreless for 7 playoff games or that Tyson would average 5 and 7. Woodson put those guys in the same spot they were in all year they just aren't producing. He has done so much more then the guy before him that you defended regardless of his numerous faults and mistakes that I find it hard to find your criticisms objective.
