You've had a taste of what happens with obamacare. Doctors speading 40hours a week fighting insurance companys who refuse to pay and give approval. 40hrs they used to spend with their patients face to face. Now you don't even know who your doctor is. You have to deal with a different one every visit. Explain your entire medical history every single time. Conflicting diagnosis and suggestions etc. If you are lucky to see your doctor you wait a long all day as he rushes through several patients before getting to you. Then he prescibes meds that insurance no longer covers. Followup and Appointments and procedures are no longer scheduled on the spot. They tell you they will call you and then never do. There is nothing wrong about universal healthcare.
But implementation of it should not reduce the quality of medical treatments and should not increase the cost of insurance to the extend working people and companies cannot afford it.
Give me some examples when uninsured people were denied emergency room treatment, life saving surgery, life support medication, etc.?
It was hard on emergency room personal and hospitals financially and operationally to treat uninsured and it get better now.
Universal healthcare is inevitable in advanced society. We just need to get it right.
Obamacare is a step in right direction but not the first step but one in a chain of long term trend.
And it needs to be improved and cleaned up.
Was it a step in right direction - absolutely.
was it done right is to be seen.

Taxing the population with Universal healthcare tax is one option. Hard to get people on-board to give up couple of hundred in pay check to feds. May be in targeted fund? So they have to tax corporation and this means more layoffs.
Also if medical industry will get guarantied money how to keep them competitive and maintain high standard of care?
I think hybrid system we have now can be good thing going forward if taken care of and improved.

Yeah, and with a lot of people, free college or even 2 years at community college is unaffordable and communism. But then free K through 12, well, that's fine to most of them. It's as if there's some kind of cut-off. 13 years of publicly funded education is fine within a capitalist society. But 15 years? That's communism!

Community college is free for low income. And any college for that mater.
If family of the student is below Family level contribution requirements the education is free (meaning paid by taxpayers money and I fine with it 100%).
The problem is for those who are form families with OK or good income but parents refuse to give any money to the kids.
In many cases kids cannot get financing also as they have no credit history and their family is in the same boat or refuse to cosign.
Or they get it and then cannot pay back or have to postpone other things in their live.
Another problem is charging same tuition fees for diplomas with great value and junk which cannot even get people employed.
The main issues have nothing to do with socialism versus capitalism but rather dumb versus dumber.

The progressive movement is lead by the communist radicals who think they can make it work with another try. I wonder how is Venezuela doing these days? Oh right it looks alot like the final days of the USSR. The policies are a death sentence for the people.

The saddest part is the failure of communism is not even taught in schools.
They do not learn about the millions murdered by Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Castro, Chavez and others. Instead these leaders are glorified! OMG!

What are some examples of proposals that progressives are making that are dangerously close to communism?

Horrors such as free universal health care! I hope we all never have to not worry about not being able to afford health care if we get ill- fear of death due to lack of money is the founding, cherished value that America was built on!

WOW of course on the surface free healthcare sounds great to you. It is intended to. What they don't tell you is what happens when $300mil to half a billion citizens inevitably get sick. You've had a taste of what happens with obamacare. Doctors speading 40hours a week fighting insurance companys who refuse to pay and give approval. 40hrs they used to spend with their patients face to face. Now you don't even know who your doctor is. You have to deal with a different one every visit. Explain your entire medical history every single time. Conflicting diagnosis and suggestions etc. If you are lucky to see your doctor you wait a long all day as he rushes through several patients before getting to you. Then he prescibes meds that insurance no longer covers. Followup and Appointments and procedures are no longer scheduled on the spot. They tell you they will call you and then never do. You call them and get a voicemail or constant busy signal. You are forced to go their in person. All the good doctors wind up quitting obamacare leaving patients with 2nd/3rd class doctors and care.

Of course obamacare is only the beginning. "Free" healthcare has so seriously ravished South American countries that they put off major surgeries for the following year. Here people lose it if they are told they have to wait a month. "Free" Healthcare is only one aspect of socialism that puts an entire nation in trillions of dollars in debt.

Of course "free" healthcare sounds great nut like gonygo said. Keep believing that if it makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.

Certainly. I am not a supporter—period.
I do support high standards, strong accountability, and local control. When Governors such as John Engler, Mike Huckabee, and Mike Pence were driving the conversation on voluntary high standards driven by local voices, it all made sense.
Have organizations that I have been a part of supported Common Core? Of course. But that’s not my position. Sometimes it’s not just students who need to do their homework.
However, along the way, it got turned into a federalized boondoggle.
Above all, I believe every child, no matter their zip code or their parents’ jobs, deserves access to a quality education.

Unfortunately they're all going to die due to global warming! But on the plus side businesses will have their short term costs cut- certainly worth it

You realize the UK and many European countries have universal health care don't you? Are they Soviet style countries?! But, yep keep swallowing the line that it's Communism and not basic human decency

Very good. We are even better - we are treating uninsured same as insured. No one is denied the basic medical services in US.
It was this way before Obamacare, and is this way after, and will be like this regardless it will be repealed or not.
All this debate is about who is getting taxed to pay not about help or not help.
Ans it is about how to keep quality of services good and prices affordable.
If you know some examples when medical help is denied because someone is uninsured please provide a link.
