Must do: move the ball, PnR with Prigs and Felt on and whoever dogs it on defense gets the bench.

The team is not going to win unless Tyson and Melo are on the floor and playing as well as they did during the regular season.

When did Tyson play well on the season? I remember the 20 rebs streak and some sporadic good games, but was he really solid for us on both ends of the floor for an extended period? Honest question because I don't remember.

For most of the season our all-star center averaged a double double and was both the most efficient scorer and led the league in offensive rebounding. Anyone who doesn't overrate PPG should call his pre-all-star break performance outstanding.

His good play before the all star break was all on offense predicated on Felton playing well. His defense has been garbage most of the season besides some games here and there he actually tried.

All on offense? The 12 rbs a game pre-all-star don't get him any credit?
It had nothing to do with Felton. He was the same offensively when Bibby and Baron were our starting PGs.

True on the pure ASB.

He's never been the same since his injury, but right now looks like lack of effort.

What's ASB?
He's commented on being dizzy and foggy earlier with the flu and it looks like that hasn't gotten back to normal.

Before the all-star break, his per 36 min #s were 13 points (on only 7 shots) and 64% FG and 12.2 rbs
After the break, they were 9 pts, 10 rbs

He didn't even finish in contention for FG% leaders because of lack of shots. And it's not because of how many games be missed. He disappears for alarmingly long stretches. I thought he was good the last few games vs Boston. But his inconsistency in terms of effort reared it's head again today.

ASB = All Star Break. I think pure is a typo, that should probably read pre ASB.

Is it effort or is he ill and he shouldn't even be out there? How do you know? Tyson is not one to talk about his physical problems.

Exactly.

Its been that way for 4 games now.

If Woody cant get consistent scoring from other ways and move the ball instead of letting Memo and J.R. chuck shot after shot, then he isn't doing his job.

Obviously we can expect a better effort in G2, but I feel like the Knicks are just stuck in "last 6 minutes of G6 Boston mode." Woodson needs to bench Smith for Pablo (or whoever) when he is off like this. And for the millionth time, stop posting up Melo every god damn play.

Melo post-up isn't the problem. Isolating Melo, having him bring down the ball many times and him taking a contested shot in those isos as the rest of the team watches IS the problem.

Thats not gonna happen. I would like it to but its not.

What's the worst thing a Knicks fan wants to hear out of Game 1 - other than injury? How about this from Carmelo:

"Take out the x’s and o’s of the game," Anthony said. "They just flat out played harder than we did today. That was the key in their victory. They outplayed us. They outworked us. There’s nothing else that needs to be said about that."

He wasn't alone. Mike Woodson told the media - and the team - the same thing.

"I thought they played harder than us tonight," Woodson said. "That was the difference. They did all the little things."

For the whole 48 minutes. Really troubling.

Watched parts of this game today. Just got home to check the box scores and YUCK...

How much longer does Melo continue to get a free pass? I mean he's been an absolute dreadful nightmare since Game 1 of the playoffs.

38%fg and 26%fg(3pt) while doing little of nothing else.

Meanwhile Kevin Durant continues his model of efficiency through the playoffs....

Free pass from who? He was rightfully getting criticized in the thread.

Criticized but only mildly. People are being much harsher on Tyson than on Melo even though low volume (Tyson) doesn't hurt the team as much as 10 for 30 nights do.

I saw some of it but really he's been bad since the playoffs started.

After we beat Boston everyone was thumping their chests like Gorillas big upping Melo getting out of the first round. The rageful posts in this thread are created out of pure emotional instability.

If anyone has been following Melo for his 10yr career and this season.....as I pointed out

he shot 42 PACENT or below 24 times out of 67gms played

Had to know he was bound to perform like this.

I've never seen a Chucking STAR go FAR and he won't unless he changes. Who changes after 10yrs in the league? A team like Indy who is tough, hardnose, gritty, and on the rise....will expose players like Melo and J.R.

The series isn't over but Indy is for real. I said early on, I don't want to see them or Chicago and I meant it.
