That is a very fair point. Many who aren't labelled haters have said much worse things about Knicks' players than anything you or I have said. It just hasn't been directed towards Melo.

I really dont care who you like or dislike, my only problem with some of these posters is the constant derailing of threads that attempt to heap praise on Melo. And its to rehash the same rhetoric about Melo's playoff record in Denver, or how he's responsible for forcing his way here and breaking up our future, etc. We've dsicussed these things ad-nauseum, why do we need to discuss them in a Melo MVP season thread? Is it a sin to actually like Melo and root him? Soem posters make it seem that way. The flip-side of the coin should be, "should it not bother you if we do like Carmelo?" If posters really dont like him, why the need to jump in every thread that bears his name and offer the same tired anecdotes? The banter becomes annoyingly juvenile at times.

yep..... just notice, the crowd is now turning on chandler... I see very little defense going his way, yet this guy has meant more to this team than carmelo has... in all fairness...

The crowd is not turning on Chandler. The guy is playing like $hit, so well deserved flak has gone his way.

The other guy is number 2 in the MVP race, and is getting more flak, undeservedly so.

you act as if that is the actual voting.. come on with that man... correct me if I am wrong.. is this official voting? i dunno..... it seems like so much stock is being put in that....I mean right now lebron is a clear cut number one, but I think Durant should be tied with lebron..... but that is just my list... go figure..

But hey I see your frustration here.... again, some of us are not buying this at all... to me, he is the same guy I didn't like while in denver... so for me, list like this, unofficial list mean nothing..

tonight should be a statement game like the heat/spurs game was. Lets bring back the defensive intensity we had the first 6. Hopefully Novak will continue heating up. Tyson HAS to play well tonight he cant let Brooks go Nuts like he let Splitter/Asik

Let me guess, it should be Gallinari at 2 and Melo at 200.

In your "unbiased" opinion, humor me as to where you would put Melo in the MVP race? Remember this is for "right now", not end of the season.

as of right now, it is silly to even have a list.. honestly, there is lebron, durant and everyone else at this point.... I can throw about 8 other guys in the mix after that and all of them can be pretty much evenly ranked , right now as I see it there are only two possible winners....

just think about this... unbiased opinion, why should carmelo even be mentioned with lebron and durant, why should any of the other guys be as well? mayo, zach, carmelo are having good years, zach and mayo may be having their best, carmelo has had better and still didn't sniff MVP consideration... would it be fair to mention any of those guys along with the likes of durant.. have you even seen his numbers? they are insane and oh yea, his team is one of the best in the league as well.. come on man..

the difference between lebron, durant and the rest are galactic, or should be.... and you know this to be true.. if Durant was on the knicks and his stat line so far is 26.5/9.4/4.5 shooting 49% from the field, that is damn near 27ppg 10 boards and 5 dimes.. if anyone outside of knick land said carmelo is ahead of him in the MVP race avg. this board would go absolutely bonkers!

I'll C my way in to this question....

Doing a Rough Draft Top 10

1. Lebron (better record and great stats across the board)
2. Durant (equal record and stupid stats across the board)
3. Rondo (Machinery)
4. Zach (better record and Beast)
5. Duncan (better record and Fundamentally Greatness)
6. Melo (best player on one of the better teams in the league good year)
7. Jrue (decent record and a straight silent assassin stat stuffer)
8. CP3 (decent record, true leader but team has hit a snag)
9. Mayo (holding it down like a G)
10. 4 way Tie....Curry/Horford/Kemba/Faried(Fairy is Rising on a decent young team/Hawks are a true surprise/Walker is making sure teams don't Walk all over them/Faried Is A MANifestation of Ball So Hard

It's a simple question tkf. Give me a number value for him. If there's 8 other guys, are you saying Melo is 11th in this "mvp" race? Just want to see how much you value him just for the heck of it.

All the backhanded comments is really a mask for tough love???

I'll take it.

I have no gripes about your list 3G, seems fair. Just want to see if tkf can unbiasedly put a number on Melo for right now.

I had to edit the list to add a little commentary and explanation

That is a very fair point. Many who aren't labelled haters have said much worse things about Knicks' players than anything you or I have said. It just hasn't been directed towards Melo.

yep..... just notice, the crowd is now turning on chandler...

Let me guess, it should be Gallinari at 2 and Melo at 200.

here we go folks, another gallo mention.. and guess who didn't bring him up...

you guys really have no right to complain at all... self inflicted..

In your "unbiased" opinion, humor me as to where you would put Melo in the MVP race? Remember this is for "right now", not end of the season.

I'll C my way in to this question....

Doing a Rough Draft Top 10

1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Rondo
4. Zach
5. Duncan
6. Melo
7. Jrue
8. CP3
9. Mayo
10. 3 way Tie....Curry/Horford/Kemba

seems fair.. ok, I will do one better. I will put him ahead of duncan at#5, since the knicks did beat the spurs not that it matters, but I will give the benefit of the doubt there.... again, 5,4 3, does it really matter?

So does that mean...Melo is a top 5 player in the league in tkf's eyes???

All the backhanded comments is really a mask for tough love???

I'll take it.

MVP doesn't mean you're a Top Player per say in the league. Take for instance if the Bobcats had 3 more wins and Walker showed up in someone's MVP blog Top 5 list would that make him a Top 5 player?

You also have to keep in mind there are some players injured/have been injured who may factor into the equation....Kevin Love/Dirk/Nash...all 3 players on many nights if not for a full season I feel are better than Melo.

Saw the edit. Fair analysis. As long as the Knicks and Melo keep keeping on, he'll be in the conversation. Even at Melo's very best, don't think he'd dethrone Lebron or Durant for MVP. But at the current rate, at Melo's best, we have a good shot with matching up with anyone and making noise this postseason.

Actually since you said this Melo gets bumped down another rung....I totally forgot about this guy who just recently beat the hell out of us....

So modified list goes as follows...

1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Rondo
4. Zach
5. Harden(He's lived up to the trade and then some Rockets are in strong consideration to make playoffs)
6. Duncan
7. Melo
8. Jrue
9. CP3
10. Mayo

4 way split honorable mentions....Kemba/Horford/Curry/Faried.

Unfortunately, you have to rank based on performances and games played, not on what if x player had been healthy.

As far as Kemba and other players making noise right now, the schedule and season will even everything out. For example OJ Mayo will come crashing down to earth once Dirk's back. Melo's been doing this over 8 years, so the numbers will likely stay around where they are.

So we've got a "qualified" top 5 and a top 10 from bonafide charter members of the Crack Melohate committee.

Winning is such a nice thing.

Now let's beat the N*yets.

I mentioned those 3 guys for a specific reason, I didn't just pull them out of my arse. Kevin Love's first game back went 34/14 and is 25/14 after 3gms. You made the statement about Top 5 player. I provided an explanation of why you can't look at an MVP list then draw the conclusion as the list representing the The Best Top whatever(5) players in the league.

As far as Mayo goes I think his numbers %wise may drop some but overall I think he'll maintain his play as the focus won't be totally on him every night, he can put up numbers fairly easily and if you go back to his first 2 seasons in the league the evidence was there.
