I wonder if this will be a point of emphasis in game 5, and if wemby has been camping the paint illegally a lot.

He has been. In game 3, in earlier games I was rewinding to count him off

Yeah I noticed he had one that they didn’t call in the last minute or so…different set of rules for him and objectively obvious.

great info.

I knew it was suspicious that it was in the L2m. this means the league is def telling the officials to look out for it.

KAT with the high IQ vet move. At this high level small things like this are what seperates wins from losses. Harp not having space to move meant KAT could get a hand on the pass.

Obviously one of the best comebacks in sports history!

A few thoughts/observations...

Spurs were 3 crazy in 1st half but most were wide open/uncontested - can Brown adjust and let some penetration occur so we don't keep giving them up?
Fox did get fouled but refs finally realized you can't call that after the way the game was called the past three - sometimes you need some luck
JB's last shot was actually a really poor percentage shot and despite OG saving us with the tip in - it should have been better than let it fly from 28
Where was Bridges offensively last night?
Alvardo stepped up and we really need his ballhanding... and he will often spark for a game so we need Deuce or Shamet to offer something next game
Knicks will likely be more aggressive with Wemby next game due to finally being called on a flagrant - next one he has to sit
Game plan should focus on simply not letting Spurs take a big lead. While we are great at coming back - big deficits do catch up with you over time. The longer we stay close the more the pressure shifts to the Spurs

aggo wrote:from a tactical perspective it really again surprises me that this is now game 2 3 4, that SAS has elected to double brunson consistently. I get doing it in game 2, bc you want to show new looks.

but Hart, Alvarado, mikal, OG have all shot the 3 with quick triggers vs this coverage and have been successful.

Knicks are getting better and better shots vs this look as the games progress

really feels like the tactics on both sides are now expended and its really just refining things at the margins.

I mentioned it earlier but keep this in mind. Starting the third quarter the Spurs played softer D because they didn't want to foul and stop the clock. They wanted to use the clock. Knicks had better looks and as soon as they saw a few go in, we were fired up and going

Similarly they are getting a lot of grief for their threes, but it's hard to criticize that as a no brainer. their guys were shooting lights out. going into the paint would allow us to be physical and if the refs were letting them play who knows what happens. I think this criticism that they were dumb for their 3s is made with the benefit of hindsight. When we've blown teams out we were shooting threes; difference is ours went in

I have probably watched the tip in, and the last defensive stop 200 times at this point.

but if you catch one of those clips that shows every hit shot in the fourth it is just as incredible. There were A TON of tough, clutch shots.

That Towns three was kinda absurd level of difficulty. And got fouled too!! The defender wasn't just in his landing area,he literally landed on the top of Towns

Thank you! Wasn't able to find a tweet I could embed to share that look earlier.

A write up on it here. I love it, and you're 100% right, this is the vet savvy that wins you a ring.

That 3 to cut it to 12 was when I really started to believe we were going to make this comeback! So many crucial plays and Spurs blunders. Wife went to bed at half time, but wanted to watch the 4th Q last night. That and the post game the fans refused to leave, the celebration was insane.

This was an all timer, but we have to close it out for it to keep it's magic.

They sort of fell on each other after the shot and looked like KAT pulled him on to him. It was happeing anyway and it was if he was controlling him. It looked bad but I dont' think there was a foul. There was contact and it was out of bounds.

The degree of difficulty was insane!

OG was got it done.

Yes into the spurs bench. Refs, “nothing to see here”

There’s a lot of chatter about OG fouling fox on his block and whether hart fouled castle or vice versa on the baseline but for the most part the refs put their whistles on silent mode for both teams

Video back in circulation after Fox's "questionable" decision making in Game 4.

Completely forgot the details of Brown's firing in Sac.

looking forward to tomorrow but still basking in wednesday

i’ve seen a lot of big games over my decades but this one just hit somewhere special

the texts and posts and calls i’m getting and sending from people i’ve known from different phases of life

the continued replaying in my mind and out loud of the key plays

the intense backdrop of political tensions around this game in the arena, the streets, the whole city

the absurdly polarized “tale of 2 halves”

the unique presence of the brunson clutch factor

the freaking refs

the 53-year drought

the appreciation of the amazing contributions across the whole squad

my girl and me recreating the final tip-in play with laundry and laundry basket 😉

go knicks

I honestly think Fox is getting blasted too hard for his "decision". I think he failed to execute it, but I honestly don't think the decision was not sound. It's just that OG made a historically great defense play. By bringing it out, Fox most likely kills an extra 1-2 seconds and then has to hit 2 FTs to get you the same outcome the layup gets you. Now, it didn't work in his favor because of OG's brilliance, but I think the tactical decision making on his part wasn't as abysmal as it's being portrayed. I think 90% of the time you want him scoring that layup, just not with OG trailing him.

Fox likely did not want to be on the line in the spotlight. Get the 2, go up by 3, let the defense take care of it. Not crazy.
Funny how Fox and Brown be back here together and Sac being a sad Sack!

Umm, I am going to call you out man . Get ready. Here it comes. When you are in the landing area of a player taking a 3 it's only a matter of : is it a common foul or is it a fragrant or did the refs miss it. No iffs or buts or"it was happening anyway" or " it looked bad" or any of that. Either a common foul or not. The refs missed it , like they have missed 90% of the stuff on the Spurs side this series. Either admit it or lose some basketball credibility from me.

Nobody should ever choose FTs over a layup. Shaving 2 seconds off the clock isn't enough of a tradeoff there. But he got blocked and history is history.

Yet JB is called for a reckless close out and this isn’t a foul call? In a few years there will be plenty of investigations coming out including fox.
