We gave the Heat better competition than Boston. Heat seem to be getting stronger the deeper they go. I'm still going for Denver.

Butler's ring is going to be the most impressive ring in NBA history. To take an 8th seed play in team with a bunch of undrafted players will go down as the most impressive championship in league history.

And when it happens I'm begging you martin to please ban me forever. There is no sense in going on LOL.

SVG and Reggie talking constantly about how Boston have quit. Our guys never did.

yup, exactly why we should run it back.

No big changes needed. Knicks are a top 10 team who I'm pretty sure is also one of the 10 youngest.

Yeah, agree give them one more year. Heat have dismantled Bucks and Celts; Knicks held their ground better. And you have to give Butler and Spo credit for turning role players into a real team that believes. Maybe at most a 3point shooter with slightly better defense than EF, so we can deepen the bench. And maybe an agile 6'10 or 6'll post defender.

Leon Rose shops like he lived thru the depression. He is frugal and he looks for deals and keeps what he values to get his money's worth meaning RJ and Randal are likely staying. He has picks and contracts like Evans and Obis and the rights to Rokas to use in deals, plus a mid-level NTP. I see him looking to use those assets first and improve the team on the margins with moveable valuable pieces, he can later use at the deadline to go for an improvement including RJ or Randall if the team does not improve with improved shooting and continuity of the unit at large and RJ and Hart specifically.

Its impressive, but its a team that lost in the finals, came back one game short int he conf. Finals and was 3rd in 3pt shooting, then came back finishing 3 games behind 5th seed but needed to play in game, got healthy after losing its top scoring guard (herro), then ran thru the east as it has the last few years.

Sorry, this is no cinderella story. Im glad knicks made the 5th seed. Heat were jsut three behind us.
Its impressive no doubt and a bit improbable but really when you look at it should not be shocking. These ****ers are tight.

I’ll root for Denver to break thru but really outside of Riley the Heat are a decades old story. They got the Spurs kind of thing going.

Largely because we walk the ball up the court and iso the hell out of the ball.

Not really like we were stopping the Heat on any front - they got to the rim, they hurt us from 3 and the boards so I think that stat is paced based for the most part.

I dunno man, maybe spout out some stats.

Knicks did a very good job containing Miami compared to what Milwaukee and Boston is doing.

Playoffs are all about finding and exploiting mismatches as best you can, that in turn often means ending in a situation where you get an open shot because of starting out as an ISO after the exploit.

Every team in the playoffs is doing ISO. SO what

It was reported during the Sixers series that Al Horford had to stop practice and get on his teammates because they weren't practicing hard enough. A team that was this close to winning a ring last, is having trouble getting motivated in the playoffs? Some thing is definitely wrong and a change definitely needed. This ain't all on the coach either....

If they plan on moving forward with the Brown and Tatum tandem, they need an upgrade at the 5 and the 1. Smart is a good glue guy, but he's not a pg, and doesn't shoot it well enough. I also think they need to get Tatum off the ball some and run some actions for him to catch the ball on the move...Horford needs to be coming off the bench at this point and they can use another rim protector....

They extended Mazulla mid-season and things have fallen apart since...Big decisions in Beantown this summer!

This is why they kept baiting boston into switching Grant onto Jimmy. If Boston don't change that switch everything defense they getting swept.

They did not stop switching everything. They are also switching lazy off ball screen to. Every possesion MIA get the missmatch they want without a struggle. BOS's coach is really bad.

the best teams seem to have ultra-competitive players who are also their best players. Everyone loves to win, but the real winners are the ones who truly hate to lose

Jimmy and Bam embody that hate to lose mentality. Lebron has it (think of that chase down block). MJ had it. Larry had it. On and on.

I think Marcus has it for the Celts and Horford, but i'm not sure Jason or Brown have it.

fortunately, Brunson has it for us.

See what becomes of Grant Williams. Kid has talent but a big mouth. He is restricted this summer.
Maybe he just takes the air out of the room?

Yeah I could be overdoing it and too lazy to look for stats - especially if I’m wrong 😑

NBA.COM shows Knicks 13 out of 16 teams in pace.

On the iso stuff though I don’t feel like any of Nuggets, Lakers or Heat are going ultra iso like the Knicks - I see Nuggets cutting all over, same for Lakers as well and Heat tons of action.

We basically had Jalen take the ball out — work his way up court get the right match-up and then everyone closed their eyes and hoped Jalen got buckets. I know over the top but that’s what it feels like real time.

Plus the best thing is watching other playoff teams and just watching all the quick action - we are stone ages and Brunson carried us to big offensive #s. Less bitching about our D vs our style of play.

In the end, does it really matter what the pace is or how many players are cutting if you win the game? You win with what your strengths are.

Knicks had plentiful opportunities to beat the Heat. They missed a ****ton of 3point shots. They literally got the shots they wanted: open 3pointers. They missed. They lost.

You slow the pace down when your offense is maybe not so good and your defense is better. Knicks did that.

I don't know how they calculate pace, but i do know the Knicks like to grab a rebound and go to amke it tougher for the opponent to set up their D. That's just smart basketball

I agree with Martin in his above quote. Knicks did some good things but unfortunately they had a lot of guys go cold on hitting open 3s. They need to do some soul searching on that. Was it inexperience, random bad luck they're all going cold together, or do the guys lack the killer instinct in the biggest of situations.

heat have guys who hit. the rockets back in the day had guys who could do it. it's not necessarily superstars. i used to think S.Novak did a good job for us. we need some guys like that

The Heat are locked in, are executing at an amazing level, winning hustle plays and taking teams out of their game. They have won 7/8 games against the 1 and 2 seed in the East.

We lost in 6, and we could have won game 1 and 6. Doesn't mean we SHOULD have won, but we were there. We played a really competitive series against a team that is outclassing the top 2 seeds.
