What might be fair, is Silver take away the option of the pick conveying as a second rounder, and give the Mavs the option to convey it this year if they preferred.

Dolan has such a toxic reputation that I am not sure whether it is better for him to complain or actually keep quiet and not draw too much attention to himself.

The crime here is deliberately throwing a game, not cheating the Knicks out of some sure fire pick. The pick that Knicks forfeited for tampering with Brunson did not go to Dallas, so now the Dallas pick going to the Knicks is but a wet dream that ain't ever comin' true.

The violation is not trying to win when you have a chance for the playoffs, while having two all NBA players AND doing so to violate a deal made in good faith, with another team who would benefit. League can void the pick, however a pick that otherwise would have conveyed without the said violation punishes the Knicks as not only do they lose the 2023 draft pick, it puts in future risk the pick conveying over the next few years of the picks protection.

Raise your hands if you believe the Knicks did exactly what Dallas did they would have to give the pick to Dallas and pay a fine and lose a future pick in punishment?

Them throwing the game directly cheated us out of a pick. It is the last part of the KP trade. A 1st round pick top 10 protected. They needed to lose this game specifically because they were tied with the Bulls and a loss or win determined who would be 10 or 11. If they won the pick would have gone to us. Any punishment that includes taking away a pick needs to be given to us or we become punished for no fault of our own. If the NBA just takes the pick it means our pick goes one year closer to turning into a 2nd round pick which then becomes a punishment to us. There is a reason why they went so hard to throw this specific game.

This sounds acceptable. I would have them throw in a second rounder as well. And Cuban has to wear a Rick Brunson jersey when we play in Dallas.

Sounds good but long term bad look. Even with as blatant as what Dallas did, you start petitioning the league to do that, no team would ever trade this management a conditional draft pick again.

I think acceptable from Silver (without my Knicks hat on) is either take the pick, or move the pick to the end of the lottery with no balls for the top pick. I don't think Silver would do anything to hurt the integrity of the lottery, so I think choice 1 is much more likely than choice 2 (even though it possibly hurts the Knicks as much as Dallas.

First off kudos to the league for at least saying they are “investigating”.
There is bad blood with “MaverKnicks” and that he came out and said about Brunson and then pulled a tank. Pretty transparent and then you have Kidd’s statement which if IM cuban i’d be tempted to fire his ass for that. Thats their problem.
“Integrity” of the game is important but it starts with the fans, and tanking blatantly is a slap in the face to the fans who bought tickets and the TV rights.
As for screwing the knicks, not sure Dolan has to publicly file a protest and the NBA transparently show they did. Knicks could be having fits and letting the league office know it. WE know it, they know it.

Seems fair as knicks fan the protection be lifted if its determined Dallas acted in bad faith and injured the knicks. Maybe they just take the protections off for next year? Not quite fair, but seems issues like this are never really resolved fairly.
Second round pick for Brunson was not fair if it was deemed knicks Tampered and injured Dallas best interests.

As a fan I want whats best for our team and the pick that they ****ed with THIS YEAR. This was an egregious abuse of good faith and it seems fair, but thats not what always happens. Perhaps there is a light penalty and its addressed with harder language going forward to correct this flaw in the system.

If we did it? Not sure why we view ourselves as a bad luck franchise. We ****ed ourselves up over many years. We abused lady luck we rarely gave her an opportunity to shine.

I'd be shocked if anything happens. Adam Silver should ban Cuban from the league imo. That wasn't just tanking, that was throwing the game away. You can't do that. He embarrassed the entire league. It's not like this is a 20 win team. Take that pick away, suspend whoever made the final call to quit and fine them $100M-$500M.

As a fan I'm sick of this tanking bs!

Can’t be mad.

It sucks we were going to get a game changer / starter.

How many times did we wine some stupid meaningless game to end the year the past decade and end up with a questionable draft pick vs. a cornerstone.

We would have done the same thing. Irving is leaving they need some insurance to add to the team otherwise Luka is out.

I would be suprised if kyrie leaves because who’s going to pay him more than dallas under these circumstances? The team imploded when he got traded there.

Under this provision, the Commissioner has the power to give the Knicks the pick. He should do so. What happened Friday was the most blatant throwing of a game as I have ever seen. As well as encouraging Luka to bail for NY...heh heh. Dont know how willing Cuban would be willing to deal though.

I disagree the Knicks would have done the same thing, blatantly throwing a game. Wasn’t that long ago many here were upset because the Knicks gave effort and won games at the end of another lottery bound season. Which you state and which contradicts your other point! Love this board!

And you know we would get a starter/game changer with the 11th, 12th, 13th pick? You should be moved up in the FO!

Lastly why do some act as if we have no shot at ever conveying the pick in the coming two years? And as if we somehow “lost” the KP trade when it was instrumental in putting the team in its current position?

Not the drama I was talking about. Most franchises have their "hiccups", but its been a few years since the Knicks were held up as a model of mismanagement.

Doubt we would have gotten any consideration from the league in the bad old days.

I don’t get what the point of playing the games are if you are intentionally losing. I don’t get what the point of attending a fixed game if the point is to intentionally lose. If I paid to see that game I would feel cheated and ripped off. You can call it tanking if it sounds less sketchy but what it really is is fixing a game. Betting is a big part of sports now, this kind of fixing an outcome is very bad for the business side of the sport

I doubt Cuban went anywhere near betting on his team to lose.
The repercussions of such an act would be massive compared to gains made.
