I just don't understand how the salary cap works. How can the Lakers afford these guys with a stacked roster and other teams can't?

They didn't do any sign and trades, so after Westbrook they weren't hard capped. They then had bird rights with their FAs, the MLE, and get minimum contracts to play with.

They let Caruso go for nothing and could still add salary by helping Schroeder do a sign and trade. Not sure what their tax payment will be but it won't be cheap.

Really great job by Pelinka, that roster will be a lot of fun.

I'm sorry if this is harsh but as a Knicks fan can we just do a little reading here. It says he "turned down more money from the Knicks and other teams...." they ALWAYS name the Knicks because it draw attention.

I said in another thread, this is not a Knicks problem but a league one. Older players chasing is one thing, but guys in their prime taking less is not good for the league or players as a whole.

I stand corrected...I skimmed the article while driving. Posted it in the car. Re read it once I git home and opened up the laptop...

What's frustrating is that this is the second year in a row that the front office waited to the last minute to get a PG. Fournier is nice, but he isn't a necessity. The Knicks desperately needed PG help. Last year we got stuck with Payton. God only knows what they get stuck with this year. If they used the Fournier money re-sign Bullock and bring in a Reggie Jackson, or whoever, I wouldn't be nearly as disgruntled. I'm waiting to see if they can solve this issue. But until then, I have to trade the Knicks free agency as a C-.

PG is not really a position to TT. TT is most comfortable with a scoring guard who can pass (aka a combo guard) which is why a guy like Schroeder/Lonzo is a bad idea and a guy like Sexton or Oladipo (health pending) would be a better fit.

Nunn would have been a good fit but he wants to ring chase.

Oladipo is not the player he was before the injuries

This ring chasing stuff is getting old. It was ok when older players did it as a swan song but now players in their prime are lowering their value to do it. This is not my NBA.

My next move is Sexton and if not him, look into Marcus Smart, pivot to a 2 year prove it deal for Oladipo, and if not him stopgap with Avery Bradley.

Same way the patriots paid Tom Brady for 15 years

We still gotta shot at Jackson

Also think Kemba is still a possibility. Package Knox, picks

Naw, I'm resigned to the idea of Rose and Luca to start the season. I'm hopeful McBride and Quick learn on the job quick. Whatever, it be worse than watching Elfrid last year.

Any complaining about Schroeder was about paying 20 million. If Knicks can get him at half that price, it would be a great contract.

I'd be worried about his effect on our chemistry- hope we have done thorough homework on him if we do opt for him,- not sure if he's been left out by all other teams because of his salary demands or if there are red flags regarding his attitude

Knicks deals are shorter with team options. That should make all feel better about them, right?

Right?

So here’s a thought

Is there any reason to think that the knicks want to see IQ and McBride at pg in the SL before making whatever move for pg?

Also adding more playmaking from EF relieves pressure on needing a traditional pg

Include Vildoza in that grouping. I believe the non-guaranteed nature runs through summer league play.

You know I gonna spin wit it

The FO still trying to sign Schröder His asking of 25M is way too high, knicks cN only give 8M. As time passes, a knicks-payton reunion might be in the horizon!

Thank goodness! Went i turn on my phone the headline reads Kemba signing with the knicks and not payton coming back. 😂. I have to say, the FO did a good job. They addressed the team's needs and was able to build on the team's continuity. I was wrong to have started panicking. They might still have a move left with less that 8M in cap space to spend. Bring in a SF for depth?

I think they used remaining $8M on Kemba, so they are tapped out and have a full roster
