Scoop: Trump's plan to declare premature victory

President Trump has told confidants he'll declare victory on Tuesday night if it looks like he's "ahead," according to three sources familiar with his private comments.

That's even if the Electoral College outcome still hinges on large numbers of uncounted votes in key states like Pennsylvania.

Behind the scenes: Trump has privately talked through this scenario in some detail in the last few weeks, describing plans to walk up to a podium on election night and declare he has won.

For this to happen, his allies expect he would need to either win or have commanding leads in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Iowa, Arizona and Georgia.

Why it matters: Trump's team is preparing to falsely claim that mail-in ballots counted after Nov. 3 — a legitimate count expected to favor Democrats — are evidence of election fraud.

Amazing how many people will be happy to go along with this- the same people who backed a military coup in Bolivia when they claimed there had been election fraud (even though in that case the elections had been legit, but hey, we really wanted their lithium so the burden of proof is much lower)

The level of ignorance in this Country is shameful. You wonder why Trump lies so much? Because he knows about 30%-40% of the people in this country are either too stupid and uneducated or too racist to know he is lying or care about it. It is just sad. We will never be better as a society until we do a better job educating our citizens. Many people don’t even know what congress does in this country. That level of ignorance is what allows a Trump to happen. Hopefully, the Trump nightmare ends today and we can start to recover our democracy and sense of decency.

Absolutely true!!!
And obviously not only for the US... it is the same basic thing everywhere… just sometimes on another Level.
Also obviously the curriculum and ways of teaching are key!!!
Nothing better to teach young ppl the world than by showing them the history we have and doing it with passion and relevance!

Good luck for today guys!!!! I am really hoping for a peaceful time in the US and ideally one not driven by lies and hatred!

Yeah and look at the ballot carefully. I can imagine a decent number of people mark the wrong boxes accidentally.

Those of you who have to vote in person, via computer, watch the screen carefully. In fla, in 04' I pushed the button for Kerry several times, and Bush's name kept popping up. Worked eventually, but be alert.
