what we'd like to see is him getting 8 assists even if his shot is relatively on. He should not just pass because his shot has zero chance of going in.
He had many nice passes that his initial intention was to pass, not just "all the doors are closed" passes.

Never been a huge Melo fan but it seems as if he's passing more this season. Let's see if he keeps it up all year. IF the guy were to average 4 or more assists, Id be pretty happy.

- Regular Assist
Usually take place in the flow of the game, never high volume though
Around the 2-4 range and coincide with average shooting usage 12-16FGA/gm
Shooting around 42-48%[5-12fg or 7-15fg]
- Hockey Assist
Usually take place when all other teammates are on, or contributing
Towards a team win while he struggled or didn't play well throughout, average usage
Shooting around 30-40%[6-18fg or 6-16fg]
- Suicide Assist
Usually his bread and butter type, these happen in almost any given situation
