The Los Angeles Lakers have expressed interest in free agent Austin Daye, according to sources. Daye worked out for the Lakers today.

Smart move for Daye if he signs there. He will blow up playing for D'Antoni.

Bucks have waived C Gustavo Ayon- is he any good? Seemed to get a double double when given more minutes.

no...hes no good. im surprised hes still in the nba
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Sebastian Telfair –Telfair has talked to several teams since free agency began. The New York Knicks have been in contact with the 28-year-old, and he would love to play for them since he’s from New York and currently owns a home about 30 minutes away from Madison Square Garden. Not only did the Knicks reach out to Telfair’s camp, members of the organization also spoke directly to the point guard to express their interest.

Telfair would love to return home, but if that doesn’t work out then he wants to join a different contender. The Miami HEAT and Oklahoma City Thunder are among the other winning teams that have shown interest. Telfair could’ve signed a new deal already if he was willing to join a non-playoff team, but that’s not something he has considered at this point. He has yet to experience the postseason during his nine-year NBA career, and he wants that to change in the 2013-14 season.

That is a decent sized commitment for a fringe player. $14mill guaranteed is quite a bounty to pay for a backup center averaging 2.6 pts and 2.6 rebounds a game. You're telling me they couldn't get that production elsewhere?

Wow.

Nets got Alan Anderson. Man that is a nice signing. That guy kills the Knicks whenever he plays them.

Considering Anthony Morrow and Alan Anderson were both signed for the vet minimum, adds to the fire for the 24th pick on a position that we needed LEAST out of 5 positions, SG without the ability/skills to be a PG and size of a legit SF

Picking Tim Hardaway JR when we at least have Iman and possibly resigning JR, that all 3 play the same position at SG, was just a poor decision

Tim Hardaway JR has a bit more upside when he is finished developing than a ROLE PLAYER at SG
But it will take time to develop and he has some of the negatives and positives that JR Smith has, quite comparable for Hardaway's CEILING
Not sure if Smith would be the best mentor, given his lack of IQ and troubles off the court, but in terms of skillset, Smith should be able to give him some advice on what to work on

I just get the feeling that Iman would likely be moved if we can get back a PG or PF/C
Get the feeling we are just waiting to get more value for Iman which he likely will show with JR Smith possibly out in the start of the season, whether it is an OLD PG like Andre Miller and draft picks or an expanded deal for a player like Dragic
Whether it was because of his comments from last season, the way he rubbed Dolan the wrong way, one of the players that actually has value and interest from around the league, because he would limit our financial flexibility for the summer of 2015, and/or because it is the "traditional trade the Knick's" have done in the past

Maybe it is all of the above and it sucks because I am pretty sure most people like what Iman brings with his effort/intensity/DEF/attitude
I wouldn't be as upset if we could add a PG like Dragic's caliber, like Felton/Iman for Dragic but certainly wouldn't be excited for Andre Miller and future picks

back to the subject, Morrow and Anderson are both veteran min STEALS that can catch and shoot at a good %
in my opinion about average/underpaid SG's is the easiest position to fill in my opinion in the NBA

Andre Roberson Receives Only 80 Percent Of Rookie Scale From Thunder

Andre Roberson received just 80 percent of his rookie scale contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to a report.
Rookies typically receive 120 percent of the deal.
The Thunder are trying to manage their salary cap situation while avoiding the luxury tax.

The Thunder refused to give Roberson more than 80 percent.

This kind of stuff annoys me- sheer stingy-ness. There's a big difference between 80% and 120% for a young player getting their first contract (though it's still a lot of money either way)- just seems wrong to screw them like this. I'd remember it as soon as my contract was up. And on top of that the rest of the league (i.e YOU AND ME) are giving the billionaire Thunder owners $14mil to pay some of Durant's salary.

I wonder what the Pacers are going to do with Granger- all the writers seem to act like he's going to make them better. Seem to be ignoring the fact that he may cause Paul George to regress (going to be awkward situation for the both of them), plus what Granger gives you on offense (42%FG shooting), is cancelled out by the step back the team will take defensively. Plus didn't they think he'd need microfracture surgery last season?

However, Scola is a nice piece to have (there goes Cope as "future of the Pacers") especially if it's just for Green. I get the impression they signed Cope to be back up SF, and intend to shift Granger before ASAP.

if Granger is healthy they should keep him. He has been a high volume 3pt shooter and you don't know if George will take a step forward shooting or maintain his assist and rebound totals. Pacers still needs offensive weapons.

Reports are saying green and draft considerations for Scola. I wonder if Indy uses Scola or plumlee to back up Hibbert. I could see them trying to move Mahini. Plumlee was a beast in the summer league. Also not sure what role cope has there if granger is staying.

With Lebron's ability to opt out next summer in 2014 summer,
I would not be surprised if Pacer's will go hard after Lebron this summer, they have tradeable assets in Hill/Mahimi/David West/, and Granger if he shows he is healthy
Lebron and Paul George both can defend multiple positions, bring multiple skill sets together, they can both play as the #1 option, and play off the ball unselfishly to be the face's of the franchise

There combination of skills, size, strength, athleticism, IQ, DEFENSIVE ability, versatility, post up/handle/penetration ability, and UNSELFISHNESS/NON EGO ISSUES with their talents would challenge two of the best ever in the game in Jordan and Pippen

Add in Roy Hibbert to cover the paint, they are easily the TOP DEFENSIVE TEAM in the entire league, in addition to role players in Solomon Hill, CJ Watson, Mason Plumlee, and Lance Stephenson on DEFENSE for the next 4-8 years
Lebron/George combination is sick enough, add in Hibbert, and role players that fit, well I don't see any team that they cannot LOCK DOWN

Copeland would be an ideal stretch PF/C that will knock down open looks when Lebron/George demands help from opponents BIG's and space the floor
Pacer's still have many of their own picks, with exemptions like 5m MLE, 2m Bi Annual Exemption to use next summer, and FA will come at the vet min to come play with that squad
They also have mostly all of their future picks minus whatever they must get to get Scola
Let's not forget they have plenty of players on their roster that are young and full of potential, that can easily net them future picks in George Hill, West *only old one*, Stephenson, and Masom Plumlee

Mahimi is a very good solid backup C that could start on some teams, is not overpaid at 4m each year till 2016 summer *in which Pacer's might try to move to clear some salary for bigger names* It is possible that he can get them back a future pick or cost a 2nd round pick to unload because of all the FA's in 2015 summer
