Man, but I don't like how so many people in that post-apocalyptic world would turn to evil things like killing and eating kids!!!! I think, in the post-apocalyptic, people would try to be friendly to survive I saw the Road to and its crazy. The post Apocalyptic movies are actually quite tame. People get raped now in "civilized" society imagine the world in Anarchy. Kill or be killed. NY Knicks - Retirement home for players and GMs

I think, in the post-apocalyptic, people would try to be friendly to survive I don't know. Sure, evil things happen every day but I hope this is a very small percentage of people. I want to think that 97.6% of people are good and if faced with a post-apocalyptic scenario they would come together and do good things! But was good movie. The scariest part for me was early on when the cannibals' truck broke down! Now I think some more, and before we were "civilized" people lived in anarchy, kind of. Obviously, they came together and built everything up! So I don't know why that wouldn't be the case now or are we so thoroughly disfigured emotionally by modern life that we have become irrational evil-people at our base? actually, now I realize that there was no sunlight and the trees were dying, right? So you can't really farm. Which means less and less pie for a bunch of people. Is that what it was? Was it just a cloudy day in the movie or was there a permanent dust cloud blocking all sunlight? I dont think most people can survive if they had to obtain their own food and water. I think many people would kill themselves rather than tough it. I'm thinking mass suicides. People can cope with gradual changes but abrupt changes would be catastrophic. NY Knicks - Retirement home for players and GMs

The scariest part for me was early on when the cannibals' truck broke down! You don't they can? I think I can. What does that make me? I'm actually SURE that I will survive It's just the way it is. It's a truth. No leaves, no water? But what about sun. Has anyone read the book? Is there sun in this scenario? It makes a world of difference. True, abrupt changes would shock and disable most. Gradual is much easier, but not less destructive. We seem to be in a state of decline, a gradual decay; I don't envision most people I know being able to cope with this, much less cope with the truth of the situation. ![]() Just saw "The Road". A great movie. The lengths that Vigo went to portray the father is DeNiro'esque.
I have not read the book, but the movie indicates that there was a catastrophic event that lead to the nature being destroyed. They mention a flash the everything is gone. Basically, the movie indicates that the only way one can get food is by scavenging or cannibalism. Also, the little part for Robert Duvall was powerful. At least for me. |

I remember Duvall, he say in one movie "Happiness ain't nothin' but having something to look forward to". Alright, so we got scavenging or canibalism. That's tough, man. I would NOT want to go through that!! I don't know if I could eat another human and I definitely would not like to be eaten as a meal. So it's a tricky situation, I think. You're right Vigo was so solid and that kid was good for a kid. I might go see this in the movie theater things when it comes out, so I can get the full feel.
