Since when are HR a bad thing? We have lots of guys capable of hitting a good number of HR but we don't have any players who *solely* hit HR. They're all versatile hitters. This and the 1998 team are the best Yankee offenses of my lifetime IMO. It's too early to tell which is better, although the OPS #s favor the current one.
The pitching is another story.

I disagree. The quality of pitching in the postseason is significantly greater than the regular season, when it is far, far easier to hit a home run. In October, the guys who tend to get hits are righties than have the talent to sit back and slap a fastball to right field or the lefties that can drop balls into soft defensive areas, in the seventh to ninth inning down a run with two outs and a man on second. The guys whose job it is is to shoot doubles up the gap or over the wall tend not to excel in those situations.
High OPS and OBP players almost assure a team will be in contention for a postseason berth... but I don't like a doubles/home run hitter/draw-a-walk player chances against KRod when the team needs a single.
In my opinion it has more to do with strategy than the actual ability of a player. If you can consistently hit for power you should be the best player on the team. And that's really my problem with the Yankees, I feel like there are way to many chiefs and not enough Indians
