That's pretty messed up when you stop to really think about it

I don't know if it makes winning better or worse, but I do know we overcame more than the Spurs had to overcome to win this

the epitome of this was the Spurs last inbound where the refs went around to tell everyone no grabbing or clutching. The rest of the game, no worries, you're even allowed to flagrantly foul Brunson. But end of game w Spurs trying to tie, then no grabbing

favorite plays of the game ??? Mines was Mitch Robinson offensive rebound near the end of the game, and Ariel Hukporti blocking Kornet. Two plays that helped save the game

I said it before and I'll say it again our chemistry was the difference. they had a collection of super talented players with all the "right" measurable and we were the little engine who could, who never quit, and as Brunson often says, "found a way to win". they all had each other's backs, right down to Hart saying to himself (and making it so) that he needs to shoot 3s in critical moments, to Jose boxing out Wemby (when other Smurfs wouldn't have bothered), to Brunson hitting 45 when KAT was being victimized by the refs

Championships are sweet, but this one is particularly sweet.

Absolutely Incredible!
A long wait but so worth it.
Only problem is what is there left to talk about on here? lol
Draft picks, free agents, coaches, refs? Who the **** cares!
Our Knicks fandom life is complete. We are NBA Champs and the long wait is over.
Just Glorious!
Congrats fellas!!!!

On Josh's missed FT, Wemby doesn't even have a hand up to try and grab the board, he's too busy trying to wrap up Mitch.

Wemby really **** the bed in the big moments this series. You can have all the talent in the world, but that clutch gene Cap has is truly special.

Captain Clutch cements his legacy. He is special.

I just think it was the refs bailing us out of all those bad streaks. Lmao

Nailed it with chemistry. KAT said Rose put together a family atmosphere. Felt like every player felt comfortable playing. No judgement just support. I have been on teams where you feel you are competing against your own team mates. Like your own team mates are rooting for you to fail so they look better. I have also been on teams where everyone roots for each others success and there is nothing to prove to each other besides whether you put forth 100% effort. You can see the trust and support in this group throughout the playoffs. Guys like Shamet and Jose don’t have the confidence they did without the support of the entire team .

We also finally believe what we hoped all year. That JB was as good as it seemed. Not too short and could be effective against taller tougher defenders. That KAT was worth the money and could play like a dawg when it counted. No more soft reputation for him. That OG would be the aggressive OG we have seen at times throughout his career. He was a monster. That Bridges could put on some kind of consistent offensive play. Prove to everyone those 5 first were worth it. He did. That Hart could hit just a few threes to keep him and his high motor in the line up. He hit several big ones. That MR can show how he can still have defensive impact despite going up against an alien. He did. That our new coach was better than our heralded Thibs and could push the right buttons in the playoffs. 12-1!

Great stories all that came together to bring us a chip. And one of the best playoff runs in NBA history. Gotta say that it couldn’t have happened to a nicer, more patient fan base!

Go Knicks

Apparently they play the clown music before every game…

https://www.reddit.com/r/NBASpurs/comments/1twauis/the_music_the_spurs_played_during_the_knicks/

The first time I heard it in game one it got a chuckle out of me.

By game two I thought it was embarrassing. For them.

that was awesome. congrats all

really feels great to be vindicated by supporting the KAT trade immediately

as an aside

the spurs' offensive scheme was too simple for the knicks. they spammed the same 3 plays over and over again.

double drag
45 horns
and side empty pnr with wemby pop option

they completely went away from high pnr bc im guessing they truly did believe all the tagging on wemby roll killed his gas tank late in the game.

there was just not enough variety or offball movement. everything was single action and just go. they had a great moment in game 4 where their entire game plan was to bait the knicks into tagging wemby and to swing & flare out for threes off the tagger. I can't believe they didn't run the same concept again.

I knew the criticism of game 4 (them shooting too many threes) would play into the Knicks hands in game 5 and it exactly did.

also

wemby better strap tf in next year.

teams are going to treat him completely differently on defense bc of how much success the knicks had.

Minnesota allowed wemby to sit in the backline and treated him like any other 7 footer. minn failed spectacularly trying to ram a square peg into a round hole, with way too many low quality shots at the rim.

OKC saw that, and game planned around Wemby's backline defense and tried to avoid him. their only success was SAS allowing them the weak side corner 3.

Knicks forced wemby to play above the break, opening the rim and kickout for threes.

Game 5 was old school ball with the low score.
Credit Spurs defense with young legs. In my group we talked that they would fatigue again. Even Harper down the stretch.
Makes you make mental mistakes.
Josh was key in the game making clutch 3's not letting the game run away.
Lets be real, SAS did not make playoffs last year and that young core as often said has much to learn about winning, and perhaps how to be a gracious loser. Wemby has a yoothful arrogance. We have see it from a young Jordan, Durant, Kobe and Lebron. They all came off bad at times. Its not easy to be that young and talented without being a dick. The list is very very long!
OKC did not win its first time out with its young team, Detroit found out its not that easy, and many examples. Some teams knock on the Conf. finals door and never get to finals!
This finals? As it was said SAS held the lead in games about 70% of the time. They don't know how to close yet. The "Clutch Gene"? part of that is conditioning. Some of it is genetics. The rest is experience.

Becky Hammons........She can add Jalen to the short list that has just Isiah Thomas and Steph Curry on it as execeptions. She is not wrong. What she did not detail is Jalens physical build is unusual. Not the Kenny Anderson/Brandon Jennings/Kyrie/Archibald/Iverson small quick guys, and not quite the stocky Lowrey/Marbury type either. Jalen is a whole differnt type of player. She missed it. So did 29 teams who passed on him. Some more than once. So did the team that had him. The owner, FO, and its coach on Mavs all missed it. Nobody had it.

Jalen to the joy of NYC and to the glory for himself and family punched his ticket to the HOF. You guys that even find me obnoxious do know I depicted this a few years ago that its not the NBA HOF and listed he could make it if he could stay all NBA but his resume from colllege is rather extensive! I wanted to explain my Hammon take and her quote into context and it was not "Wrong" until he proved it otherwise. NObody said it could not be done, its just mostly a big mans game! Jalen plays rather big for his size and has defied more than one talking head, coach, exec, and fans. None of us saw this coming. Which is why its special. He did what few can: Carried his team on his shoulders in a clutch ending game! Did it in the paint, did it at the rim, did it from the 3. Brilliant game for the ages.

Brunson is already one of the greatest playoff performers and most clutch playoff performers we have ever seen. The way Brunson played last night in the closeout game in the finals can rival any closeout have we have ever seen from Jordan, LeBron, Kobe, Shaq, Bird, Kareem, Moses, KD, etc. Brunson is officially in that clas!! #goknicks
