In my opinion the zebras actually did good in that incredible sequence by letting them play. I didn’t see anything remotely egregious. It wasn’t a spot to be ticky tacky and either team could have made a crybaby case when they lost. Just so happens that was the Sixers!

Interesting article. A bit over done perhaps but we get that also. That they had the lead is not accounted for, just that 6er's "Lost it". I thought to that moment Philly just played a good game!
To me the margin of difference was Embiid could not move on defense thus we were getting offense rebounds, by having depth with Deuce, Brunson was able to rest then DDV who was fresh enough to execute the last minute. He got the lose ball for Brunson shot.
Philly is older, Harris is on his last year of what was an untradable contract, Lowrey is 38 and played hard, but made the errant pass. Was that fatigue? Batum and Oubre did a great job on Brunson. Article does not emphasize that. Oubre has torched us on offense in his career but he is not given the green light on Philly and he is relegated to defense duties?
Maxey and Embiid still played a very effective 2man game at times. Any writer can find fault down 0-2.
Really, what the writer is doing is doing the blame game. Fans are frustrated and needed blame to quench the blood thirst of losing. They were play-in team! Embiid was having his best season before he went down and is doing something very hard coming back on a painful knee.

Yes, knicks were all the writer said they were. Rabid dogs with a tenacious temperament! Again, its why many don't want to play for Thibs, he demands it.

Brunson did grab his jersey but it wasn't the reason for him falling. He flopped trying to get a call and the panicked to get rid of the ball. Maxey should have called a T/O or held on for a jump ball.

Philly did a long of things wrongs this game and Knicks capitalized from it.

Yeah, he just needs to see this more often and instead of forcing a bad shot, move the ball. When he did, he made crucial assists! YOu don't have to take the shot to be the man. You are already the man, just adjust and use the coverage to your advantage.

Bogey was an unsung hero! Hit 2 huge threes to start the 4th! I like what we've seen from him! Playing his role really well! And Deuce ripping the ball away from Maxey just signified what he and this team is all about!

Hart has been our best player in this series. Played all 48 minutes and he's knocking down the threes! Love him! To see him and Starks hug is just awesome!

Josh has been incredible.
Many has been great. Even if he got the ball ripped from him. That last layup he missed by a small margin!!!
Knicks played good defense on him and did not foul. Hell of a stop!!!!! fatigue factor perhaps. Our guys play hard all game long!!!

As for Brunson in a slump, that might be true, but they are pressing him full court and making him work to get the ball. Batum is on him in the back court when he does not have the ball. In turn, he and Oubre offensively are not having a good series. Brunson should keep attacking and create passing opportunities as he has been. His work in the paint gets iHart some nice looks for that floater. It also put him on the line.
Philly's plan was to let the other guys beat them. They are.

Knicks team defense is impressive! OG completes the schematic. When we need a bucket and the defense gives OG a look, he does it.

hard to believe we are up 2-0 with Brunson shooting 29% and 17% from 3. Sure credit PHI's defense, they have defended him better than any team all season, but Brunson also missed alot of good looks that he normally makes.

Oh yes, I loved the article, especially this part

Ultimately, though, Embiid owned the overall shortcomings of his team: “We should be 2-0. We’re the better team. We’re gonna keep fighting.”

Correction: They’re going to start fighting.

Asked if he thought the Knicks wanted these games more than the Sixers, coach Nick Nurse snickered, and replied, “Absolutely not.”

That’s concerning. There are three possibilities here.

1: Nurse doesn’t know what he’s been watching, which is unlikely, since he’s one of the league’s better coaches.

2: Nurse doesn’t want to hurt his players’ feelings; unacceptable, since that plays directly to their softness.

3: Nurse is getting everything out of them that they have. Now down 2-0, that would be the worst news of all.

The Knicks’ best player, Jalen Brunson, is 16-for-55 in the series. He’s shooting 29% from the field. He’s missed 10 of his 12 three-pointers.

How do you overcome that? Heart. Taking charges, fighting for loose balls, hunting offensive rebounds, and defending every second of every possession like they’re in a $100 pickup game at the park and they’ve only got 25 bucks in their sock.

Heart, like Josh Hart, the most aptly named player in the NBA, who has made 8-of-15 three-pointers after shooting 31.0% in the regular season. Heart, like Donte DiVincenzo, who dropped 19 and made four 3′s Monday night.

Heart, like Embiid.

At times, you had to wonder if some of Embiid’s own teammates were joining in the Madison Square Garden chant, “Bleep Embiid! Bleep Embiid!”

This guy, two months removed from left knee surgery, in two road playoff games, has scored 63 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in 75 minutes. He can’t do much more.

Heart, like Tyrese Maxey, who scored 33 when healthy in Game 1 and 35 while sick in Game 2. He, too, is absolved, despite his two turnovers in the last two minutes; he scored 15 in the fourth quarter while everybody else was either out of answers or out of gas.

Those two played hard. They wanted to win. So did Kyle Lowry, who’s 38 years old, and is averaging 35 minutes, which is 20 minutes too many at this point.

The rest?

Kelly Oubre Jr. has 14 points in the series. Nico Batum, nine. Buddy Hield, two. Tobias Harris, 17, and they’ve been barely noticeable.

Harris called out the Sixers two years ago after they collapsed against hard-nosed Heat. He said then that the team needed to get tougher. He was their best player in that series. Now?

“I just think we need to get a win,” Harris said. “I’m not really focused on comments I said [two years ago].”

“I thought we played tough as hell,” Maxey said. “Everybody played tough tonight.”

From his perspective, you couldn’t blame him. He’s not wrong. There’s tough, and then there’s Knicks tough, and nobody suffered more than Maxey.

Maxey got punked at the end of the game on the inbounds play, but that wasn’t as embarrassing as what happened earlier in the fourth quarter. With 8:18 to play Miles “Deuce” McBride and Maxey grabbed Bojan Bogdanovic’s missed three-point shot at the same time. McBride twisted the ball from Maxey’s grasp, tossed Maxey to the floor, and deposited a layup for a 87-80 lead.

It was like that all Monday night. All Saturday night. It will be like that all Thursday night, too, when the series moves to Philadelphia.

The Knicks play like they are rabid. Like they are furious. Like they are cornered. And that’s why they’re favored.

“No one’s gonna feel sorry for us,” Harris said.

Bull’s-eye, big guy.

ITs the aggregate of good defense. Because they are playing him tight and getting him tired he misses good looks. He made some important also in a tight game.
Same for Maxey. he went for 35. We thru a lot at him and he is was brilliant for much of the game. In the end he an Lowrey made a bad play. Fatigue. He had a really good look at the basket for that last shot that would have given them a lead. Thats a lay up he makes most of the game. But fatigue matters.
Our depth mattered. We don't win if iHart does not get that offensive rebound. He went down and go it to OG, who without blinking swung it to DDV.

Philly's lack of depth is the small margin. Fatigue is not always measured but many things came together for us to eek out that game. When Luck presented the opportunity knicks executed it for the reasons mentioned. Won't happen all the time. But it happened.
