This guy been brought up? Very iHart lite in a 4's body.

https://www.thestrick.land/strick/the-stricklands-2024-nba-draft-profiles-part-2-late-1st-rounders-aka-where-the-knicks-picks-kick-it

Jonathan Mogbo (Power forward, San Francisco)

Draft night age: 22.6
Height: 6 ft 7 in
Wingspan: 7 ft 2 in
Weight: 220 lbs

Prez’s Sales Pitch: Mogbo is an athletic marvel with an NBA body that only a few years ago was sub-6 feet. In college he was a point-center and dunk machine; in the NBA he’ll likely play the 4 and rely on his guard-like movement and face-up handle and explosion. Though he didn’t shoot jumpers, all he has to do is get proficient from the corner and you’ve got a super-charged, super-smart big wing connector. He understands the game, and learning to chuck and defend perimeter players is easy enough in the G-League — the payoff would be well worth it.

Questions about their projection: Mogbo is too small to play the 5 in the NBA — full stop. His projection requires two pretty gigantic “ifs”: if he goes from never shooting to shooting well, and if he can be a strong defender at the 4. Though he played there some in college, the NBA is a whole new ballgame: one night you’re the china shop to Julius Randle’s bull in the paint, the next you’re trying to catch Paul George or keep him in front of you on the perimeter.

Important Stats:

14/10/4/1.6/0.8

11.1 BPM. A great number.

25 AST%. Insanely high for a big man.

14.5%/29.3% OREB%/DREB%. Elite numbers.

3.2 steal rate (STL%)

3.5 BLK%

I think Precious is bigger and far less skilled with the ball. This guy gives Jae Crowder vibes.

Is Precious a point-center? I think that’s the separator.

These mid major players are interesting. "Mogbo" name alone is fun!
Not going to break many school records when Bill Cartwright and Bill Russell are legacy!

If he’s there he has to be considered at 24/25 because he already looks the part of an nba role player. The shooting, off-ball movement and passing are impressive. He probably isn’t a good defender but no reason he can’t hold up good enough. Thibs would like his quick decision making and from what i understand he is very competitive.

Sam Vecenie (The Athletic) was on KFS and said something to the effect that he asked a good # of Big East players/coaches who was best player in conference and that the name with the most responses was this guy Scheierman.

Pretty solid given Kolek and Carter in Big East as well.

If Knicks could move up for Carter and also add Scheierman --- I'd be down for that.

Seems likely?

Super duper good wing defender, like one of the best ceilings on the defensive side as you can get.

Very not good shooter? Anyone have a good sense if he better than Mitch offensively?

Martin - we dont telegraph anything we do on draft night. To me Dunn is a safe bet not to be a Knick, but the easiest target to throw people off of our plan (bc at a surface level - he is Thibsian).

Noveau Thibs wants guys who can hit on catch and shoot and shoot from the corner. Dunn reminds me of rookie Ariza offensively. Or maybe Balkman esque.

Like every draft my target has always been shooters that can defend. If we can get them 6'7" or taller would be awesome

Re: Tyler Kolek. Reminds a bit of the PG who was there with Wade and Novak in the 2000s. Travis Diener I think was his name. Solid floor general and gamer, but didnt really have NBA athleticism and size. Maybe in today's era though someone like him could work.

I like the Houston PG a bit more. Jamal Shead. Small, but a bulldog.

Yes I'm think Edey is extremely undervalued. There are flaws to his game sure, but his strengths may outweigh that. He will be physically imposing at the NBA level too. Could be a massive steal outside the top 15.

Yeah. I think 24 or 25 spot is worth the gamble for him if he falls that far

i mean look at Jah Okafor, physically imposing, great foot work, averaged 19ppg as a 19 year old rookie. but at the end of the day, his lack of defense, foot speed and floor spacing did him in. Not sure I see it with Edey, his offense isn't enough to overcome the rest, he's like an even slower footed Kanter who also fell out of the league.

Big size difference with Edey though

im not sure the extra 30-40lbs and few inches benefits him though, he will be able to score in the paint like Okafor, Kanter...etc... the issue is going to be, can he get up and down the court and does he have the footspeed not to be taken out of games on switches? more size will only hurt him even more there.
