Wait, I got it! Super prime Rokas is what Dallas thought they had in Brunson when they were offering him that $50M extension that he turned down.

That would be a good ceiling for him lol

Question: Do you change his shooting stance and square his hips and shoulders to the basket or nah?

I dunno, that's something the staff will have to figure out if he makes the team. I heard an interview with Rokas where he said he doesn't consider himself a great shooter, but he knows the spots he's effective from. I don't think Thibs would care much as long as the Rok stays effective in the corners.

Hopefully he’s already in Westchester working with Knicks assistants. They have that shooting software thing-a-bob there

It's relative. Euro workout regimen includes lots of bread, wine, and cigarettes.

Rhetorical ? When it comes to illicit and thus the most fun sex you can have, I would never just make it a rehortirical device. To be young and a millionaire, something I'll never be 😂😂😂

I don’t understand the love and hype here for Rokus - I see a young player who isn’t exactly getting a lot of minutes overseas and in those minutes, doesn’t seem to be producing wow kind of impact. I saw game play live for a few minutes, admittedly, but just didn’t see an athlete.

It’s hard to translate Euroleague performance to NBA. I would argue that Luka’s stats didn’t wow anyone.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/international/players/rokas-jokubaitis-1.html

Young players struggle to get minutes in Euroleague vs the grizzled vets. So, minutes count isn’t a fair assessment by itself.

Assume everything we are hoping for is based on an imperfect translation from Euroleague to NBA. Euro will have zone defense, a little less athleticism, a little more emphasis on fundamentals and less showmanship.

Now, Luka is the dream. But if you look at per 36 numbers for both Luka and Rokas, they are projecting 17pts 6 assists for Luka and 15 pts 5 assists. Nothing to go crazy over for either. Rokas, however is doing this on 41% from 3. Now, I have doubts on the 41% because 3 pt and Ft shooting are generally correlated. 41% from 3 but 75% from the line doesn’t really make sense. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 41% regresses. Or if the 75% improves. Neither would surprise me.

I think the reason folks are high on Rokas is because of his award of the EuroLeague Rising Star. It’s not a promise of success in the NBA, but it puts him in pretty good company.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EuroLeague_Rising_Star

So, we aren’t saying he is the best in the NBA, only that he is among the best the EuroLeague has to offer.

Positional Size, good passing, and good 3point shooting.

If you could get a 15/5 guy that shoots 40 from 3, you would pay him. Bogs got 20mm for that skill set.

Prezidente of the Strickland did an AMA today on Reddit and he gave this answer to a question about the Rok. Also should add that Sarunas Jasikevicius, the one who initially recruited the Rok to Barcelona stepped down as coach prior to the season. Might be another reason why the Rok wants to try his hand at the NBA.
Yes he is, imo. His minutes have dried the **** up for Barcelona because they love playing older clout having guys like wizards legend Tomas Satoransky, [washed] Ricky Rubio, nicolas laprovittola (a 34 yr old argentinian PG), and before he returned to the NBA Dante Exum. But in my estimation he's better than all those dudes especially for the NBA game. They lost to Real Madrid today by 20+ and Satoransky was a -36 in 25 minutes, Alex Abrines was a -27 in 20 minutes. Rubio was a +12 but is shooting 32% (not a typo) on the season from the field. Rokas played 3 minutes.

He's shooting 50% on 2p jumpers (better than nembhard and TJM this year for comparison), shooting 45% on C&S 3s, and remains the most athletic guard on their roster. HOWEVER, they don't play a PnR heavy game in Europe and certainly not on Barca where they play through KNICKS LEGEND willy hernangomez and Jabari Parker.

Some unverified reports have said he's interested in leaving Barcelona finally (probably because of all the above) and either coming to the Knicks where he has a good chance of earning ab ackup PG spot, or going to Zalgiris, the club he began his youth career with (they stink).

Rokas wants to fulfill the dream and if he can make more money here and improve he can always go back to euroball as a young man in two yeas if things don't work out.
As said the stats rarely jump out and say "He is ready" as much as what scouts think and how he does vs. elite competition when presented.

He will have to take some risk and prove himself in summer league and in camp. Knicks are not stupid or cheap to prevent getting an opportunity. He might not be a Thibian type but he could provide value in a trade if need be. Be great if he can play along side Deuce and give us 15 min. Curious if Shake gets a fair shake at back up and returns to earn a spot?

Rokas will be 24 years old in November. His time has come to test the waters.
