What a tough game. I couldn't see it but I listened to parts of it. You want more from your ace but 4 ER in 8 IP isn't that bad. Those extra runs Rivera allowed killed us. It happens.

Tex is absolutely outstanding. Come on Arod, tie it up!

great effort by Teix today, but that ugly 9th did us in... Mo looked horrible, he's human... gotta love the Yankees at least not giving up in the 9th after going down by 4 in the top of the inning... Mo's picked them up so many times, i thought they were gonna pick him up today, but it was too little too late.

CC gave us length but he's gotta stay out of those big innings... we'll get em tomorrow.

Sabathia kept us tied. Personally, I would have had him finish the game and I'm sick of Cervelli and Pena getting called out so that someone like Matsui or Posada can hit. These guys aren't the same hitters when you pinch hit them. And to top it off, you had to put Posada behind the plate. Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb. It's not the reason we lost, but it's still dumb.

Cervelli's got a sub .600 OPS. You CAN'T have him hitting in an important situation.

Yankees get 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th after a couple hits and then some bad pitching and defense by the Rays...now Rivera looks for redemption

BTW, how good is Alfredo Aceves? He has adapted really well to the pen. Chalk this guy up to the Yankees scouting- he spent 6 yrs in the Mexican Leagues with no sniff of American baseball, and is up in the majors and contributing within a year or so.

he's been a nice find for us... i loved him last year when he was starting games towards the latter part of the season too... the guy's got a bulldog mentality out there on the mound & isn't afraid to throw strikes... gotta give our scouts & our GM props for giving him a shot.

Probably wont be able to make it out to Jerz in the tonight, but we should definitely try to do a get together for the game in the city one day.

On another note, how about Mark Teixiera's D- maybe our best defensive 1b since Mattingly. I know he's won the gold glove a couple of times but I am shocked at how much range he has at that position.

Was listening to the game on the radio the other day. Sterling was saying that Aceves has been able to easily transition himself to the bullpen because in Mexico EVERY pitcher starts out in the pen and has to earn their way out. He's definitely been a great find by the scouting staff.

So far he's looked great in about 50 innings as a Yankee, but that is a small sample. He could be anything from the next Remiro Mendoza to the next Aaron Small.

He has actually has good stuff, which is why he's a better bet than Aaron Small, who was a junkballer who had many years of mediocre pitching on his resume

I think Bonn's point is the range of possible outcomes could be between being an effective pitcher or an effective pitcher until teams game plan for him
