Bonn with his love for stats. I'm not trying to joke around, I'm seriously curious. Did you love stats classes when you were in college?

No, I definitely didn't. I view stats as a means to an end--a means to better understanding the world. Most people who love stats love it just for its own sake. Stats just for its own sake is what you usually do in school, and I actually hated it.

i'm not a big posada fan...

but since his return, pettite gives up 1 run, cc gives up 3 runs, joba gives up 2 runs, and burnett gives up 3 runs. the only game he didn't start is the only game we lost (tho he hit into a big DP as a pinch hitter).

he may not be able to throw out runners but he is calling a good game and helping us out big time at the plate.

If you look at a larger sample of games, in 2008 his ERA was about 1 run per game higher than Molina's. He may make up for that at the plate, though.

He has his ups and downs. His throwing arm has seen better days. He calls a good game but he definitely doesn't block the plate. He's a very good hitter when he's in the lineup, but he's a lousy pinch hitter. He's a team leader but there's a few reports that the pitchers like Cervelli more.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan, but he's good and I like him. He's earned his spot in the league and deserves all the good credit that he gets. However, I think we need to see how Cervelli can do as the official backup and if he handles this season well, then it's time to start phasing him into our future plans.

I hate to say it b/c I like him, but it's time to phase Molina out. Maybe use him as trade bait when and if he comes back. I'm sure lots of teams could use a vet catcher like him.

Jorge's the worst baserunner i've ever seen tho... i love his bat but he grounds into DP's so often it's scary sometimes & he rarely if ever blocks the plate on close plays at home (except that 1 time he got knocked over by Teixiera when he was on the Rangers & held onto the ball, i give him props for taking that hit)... his leadership is valuable on this team but personally i think both Molina & Cervelli call a better game & keep their pitchers into the flow a little better... Jorge also rarely tries to frame the pitch to get the close calls, which Molina & Cervelli do quite well... his throwing arm is obviously not what it used to be... obviously u can't replace Jorge's bat tho & being a switch hitting Catcher w/power from both sides of the plate is a huge commodity.

i think it would behoove the Yanks to keep all 3 catchers on the roster for the rest of the season because you never know how Jorge's health will hold up & it's always nice to have an extra C on the roster late in the season when you're making a ton of matchup substitutions & late inning replacements to give some guys a rest.

ugh, i don't care for Kevin Cash... to me he's a scrub who can't hit, play defense or throw out runners... emergency Catcher at best IMHO.

Kevin Cash is terrible and is barely a placeholder. The Yanks are a better team with Posada. They've won several championships and many games behind his stellar bat and ability to call games. Catchers like that are not easy to find.

Billy Mays makes a more convincing buy in a product than you on Kevin Cash. Cash is just a product of sticking it to the bostonite for droping him and hoping he will be a stud in the lineup

I don't like this move but at least we're putting a good arm in the bullpen and hopefully he'll be reliable. Lets see how Wang handles this.

They way I look at is that if this team is going to be at full strength--if we want our best chance at winning a world series, it's with Wang as a key starter. So why keep delaying his return to the starting rotation? He looks confident and comfortable now.

Teixeira is out with a bruised right ankle. I wonder if it has to do with that slide that broke up the double play. I hope he isn't out long.
