no way. I thought maybe a severe sprain because I've had one of those, where you go into primal mode wanting to reach inside your body and grab the tendons

but when you see the play in slow motion you'll see he loads up to get after the loose ball and is immediately going down reaching for his heel

it's 100% an Achille's. And that sucks

Hart was a class act on Tatum's exit too.

I believe you, dont know much about that injury. just looked like it was his toe that he broke.

I think Kat got 10 of his 11 field goals at/around the basket and he got 1 got darn free throw. Also called for multiple offensive fouls.

Derrick White standing at 3 point line chucking 11 3 pointers and he went to line 7 times.

Officiating so sketch.

The reason this is so egregious is the Celtics shot 48 3's and the Knicks dominated points in the paint. Fouls happen when the offensive is aggressive. Absolutely absurd officiating for most of the night.

Beyond that - I don't know what's in the act of shooting vs. what is not anymore. Celtics were going to line for things that were absolutely not in the act.

"Marginal contact" is NBA's way of allowing the refs to control the game IMHO

I never liked the BS continuation calls, so when KAT didn't get it on the made 3 pt shot I was fine with it.

But then KP got fouled going for a rebound and it was called in the act.

and then OG got a steal and Brown grabbed him to stop him from getting an easy dunk and it was called a common foul.

The rules definitely need some refining.

They did say that OG never had possession on that play and that's why it wasn't a clear path foul.

Give Thibs some credit here as we are starting to see a pattern (a change) where Thibs rests Jalen to start the 4th and has started initiating offense thru Mikal off high screen.

It took some time to bake this in but it's happening and Mikal is making it work --- he's been SO CLUTCH.

I would like us to do this to start second quarters as well and just end the Cam Payne experiment.

Thibs adjusting -- I'm going to feint.

I give Thibs credit for rolling with this lineup all the way but it started because KAT and Josh both had 5 fouls I believe. And then they went on an 18-10 run and Thibs rightfully rode them through the end of the 4th.

which doesnt make sense because he clearly was about to have possession and an open path. The spirit of the rule was to stop defenders from stopping an easy basket and that's exactly what Brown was allowed to do there.

Didn’t think he had it in him after the hammy thing but he looked spry

OG had scored a combined 7 points in games 2 & 3 so while I still don't call him reliable (as a scorer) he was BIG TIME last night.

Still scares me going to hoop - again last night completely botched 2 wide open finishes and had 2 other layups awkwardly clank and fall in the basket. His coordination for an elite NBA wing is very odd.

I'm talking purely about hitting an open shot that comes his way in a tight moment. Not necessarily talking about his creation or finishing ability. Also one of his botched layups was when he pulled his hammy.

I agree. We are a really bad lob team. Mitch would feast on alley oops with some other teams.

Knicks need to use the end of quarters to do layup lines lol every quarter!

now I've been telling them we do that for the first three quarters of a game. Lull the opponent into complacency. Make them think they're in control and their plays are working

then come out with our ninja strategy and win the game before the opponent can adjust

I've been as critical as anyone about Thibs playing his starters too many minutes, particularly in light of the way last season ended. Yet it seems to be working this time. I don't think the Knicks are necessarily a better team straight up than the Celtics were before JT's injury, but I think they are better in the 4th quarter because they can still ball while the other guys are sucking wind. I can't explain why they were so mid against DET for the first half but same thing applied. How else do you explain going down 15+ in every single game and then 'coming off the ropes' in the mid-3rd quarter to storm back and win.

All I can say is cardiologists in NY are BUSY.

3point % for Celtics players for series. Surprising to me: https://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/2025-nba-eastern-conference-semifinals-knicks-vs-celtics.html

Brown 23%
Jrue Holiday 29%
KP 20%
Horford 31%

Knicks:
Mikal 24%
KAT 10%
Hart 29%

I think they were saying it was due to how wide his legs were, something about them being wider than the shoulders. I don't know, it was sketchy and even RJ didn't like it. The broadcasters mentioned the bad calls against the knicks multiple times.

I keep saying this but I love everything about Starbury being welcomed back into the Knicks family. Lets welcome back Lin now.

Yes they called a "Loose Ball" foul, so possession was not established, so they couldn't call clear path.

There were just a lot of instances of plays were there were not shot attempts, before the Knicks were in the penalty, that sent the Celtics to the line. It was a bit egregious last night.

For consistency, on KAT's there was a clear shot attempt that came subsequent to the foul on KAT (that went in) that you could at least point to. The inconsistency is what is frustrating to watch.
