For me, that's just past the point of bad luck and quickly into the territory of colossal failure.

This is the kind of thing that sets teams back by years IMHO. Invest heavily in draft; relationships with players, other FO's; and development plans within your team dynamic. Those are the things that are not salary cap cost prohibitive and do it wisely.

The Knox pick was driven by the FO wanting to keep Fizdale happy. He was a hot commodity at the time. A young coach who was courted by several teams, and chose the Knicks.

Tarrytown is now Fort Knox because Fizdale fell in love with his three-on-three workout versus Miles Bridges in an empty Westchester gym 15 days ago. Fizdale lobbied brass to overlook Mikal Bridges’ ability in the clutch and leadership on the biggest stages the past three seasons on two NCAA-title-winning title teams

Yup

Bridges is here now, and on a much better Knicks squad, with his old Nova teammates, so maybe it all worked out for the best.

Who knows how it all would have worked the last years with different players. Obviously in hindsight you don't take Knox, but all that happened after that draft would be different as our would our record, Draft positions, etc. Wiz does good, maybe lasts a year or two longer, Thibs signs elsewhere? Stuff that like that. Domino effect in place is mind numbing if you retrace it all.
Some would be good, and some other things not.
Knox must have had a hell of a work out!!!!

Ok. Mikal is struggling. But I am absolutely a believer. Not just his fit. But him as a player. The Knicks legitimately have a Big4.

This is Phoenix Mikal. This guy is two way player extraordinaire. He’s decisive. Smooth. LONG strides. A smooth shot. Guy just loves to play ball. His off ball motion creates most of his shots. Whether cutting diagonal to the basket or moving to the corner.

Point is, he needs to use his feet and not his hands to get out of the slump. He’ll get there, cause he is a rockstar.

Love this guy.

This guy looks amazing. That shot looks smooth and fine. There is a decisiveness and a killer’s mentality that you can see here and can’t be seen anymore. Maybe a few times with his quick cuts under the basket into a mid or close jumper. But even the defense looks more active and determined here.

This isn’t the guy playing right now. The shot from the outside looks weird and he looks unsettled, like something is wrong but he is just moving on hoping whatever is out of place will snap back in on its own.

If he was playing with the same fire and shots were just not falling, I’d feel more comfortable. But his shot from three looks weird like if something happened to him in the offseason. And his tentative play and inconsistent defense really baffles me.

If the guy playing in this clip was the one we had, we would be in such a crazy level on both ends. I hope he can get back to it, but I’m really worried.

What if I told you it’s the same guy! I know. Mind blown.

My thought is that Brooklyn got in his head. Got him thinking he has to do his work off the dribble to be a star. In Brooklyn, he had to. There was no one else and if he didn’t make his shot with the ball, he wasn’t getting it back. Here, he is getting more assists in less passes.

The guy in the video is unilaterally focused on putting the ball through the hoop. Gets ball, goes down hill. Uses Booker’s gravity to hold on to defenders while he breaks orbit and and makes his leap to the stars.

Shoots from an angle probably cause he needs the depth perception from rotating his head to the side to establish his range. Same reason he passes on a floater for that weird backward falling fadeaway. Smooth three that doesn’t think about raising the ball over his head before releasing.

Thing is. I don’t care what his shot looks like right now. Man is a professional. And if he thinks he needs to raise his release point to be a more effective shooter in this league, well, I am fine with that, but he needs to be in the gym like JuJu getting the extra shots in til it is elite… again.

We will be laughing about the time we doubted him. Though guarding Kyrie tonight isn’t gonna do much for anyone’s confidence. I’d burn some basil to cover his sage smell. Kyrie will revert to bat**** crazy and speaking in tongues.

I believe Mikal would snap back if playing off the bench where he could lead the second unit.
We need precious and towns combo. OG at SF and Hart at SG.

I love that the bar for the starters is somewhere in the "they should all be near all-star team consideration, or voted in as a starter" range.
