Randle has shooters around him now. OG is better fit with him also.
PreBrunson Randle was a different player.
Randle and OG gives us good size advantage.

That said, Randle is expendable if you move Josh to the wing, OG to the 4, and then open to Donovan Mitchell inserted.
Randle for DM is not logical but as part of a 3 way perhaps.

Reimagining the team for next year? So many possibilities! Or just run it back.

If I'm Brooklyn I'm happily trading Bridges for Randle.

I have to imagine Leon wants Booker. Robinson can’t stay healthy would be a nice upgrade for the Suns. If we offered and I don’t want to, Randle, Deuce and Mitch for Booker the Suns would likely do it.

But, this team when fully healthy is frightening, hart has been so good they may trade Randle, but if we can keep everyone together and just cut the minutes we can hopefully be healthy next year and have the best record in the league.

The trio is so special.

Toughest team in the league by far.

you think Leon would want Booker for Randle and parts? Is it your first day here?

Once we traded the only other shot creators we had besides Jalen for OG that made trading Randle for another person who can't create shots for himself or others not a good idea. We need Randle to create for us with his postups as an alternative to jalen doing everything. We still need a ball handling PG. I love mcBride but his good games are him hitting his 3's and defense. It is why our team sucks once Brunson comes out. We have no one else able to break down the defense. Priority number 1 should be a backup PG. I really wanted Brogdan but I don't think Portland wanted to trade him.
I have no doubt they come back with this crew and spend some assets on an extra bench player. Maybe Derozan or Brogdon. Maybe just lets Bogs get healthy and see how we look starting the season w/ McBride/Josh/Bogs/center as the bench

We won 50 games with 46 games from Jules, 26 from OG, 31 from Mitch... its basically been 50 wins from the Nova trio and IHart.

I expect this whole offseason to built around fortifying depth and just getting healthy

I like Donovan - but in reality that seems like a pipe dream

How about doing what you can to get IQ back in a sign and trade? For - Mitch, Deuce, Filler and Picks(2 FRPs / 2 seconds - sweeten more if you need to). Sign IHart. Sign Precious as backup 4/5. Keep Sims as another 5. With Randle back going to be difficult to find minutes for Bogs, so I'm on the fence about him.

You can't assume Randle or any starter won't miss time. Build your bench despite the 9 man rotation. You add pieces in anticipation of injury, foul trouble and match ups. Have your projected 9 man rotation and add depth to 12 proven players

You build your 9 man rotation first - then worry about the end of bench depth. The roster currently has a gap, that being an extra ball handler/distributor. Deuce has been very good this year - but is not that type of player.

In terms of injuries/missed time and backups - I agree. But if your point is to retain Bogs - not sure paying a 36 year old who is not really known for his D, $19M to sit on the bench or play 10 minutes a night as a potential contingency is the way I would go. I'm thinking more like a vet player on the buyout market @ $3 - $4M (example would be Kevin Love).

Bogs is a potential salary ballast for another deal, just Evan was. Let's say Booker becomes available, they're going to have to stack Mitch and Bogs just to have enough salary to move the crap load of picks that would be required. I agree the team needs to look at the buyout market as well. But the quality of players available switches from year to year. The Nuggets had the right idea (although it's backfiring on them now) of trying to fortify the bench through the draft. Development will be key with the new CBA going forward.

Deep bench guys pretty much have to be through the draft. Why would someone willingly sign to be 3rd or 4th string deep bench depth unless they were a scrub?

The Pacers are NOT a bad team - they're just not as good/playoff tested as the Knicks are at the moment. Their weakness is that they don't really have a bonafide crunch time iso scorer. The Sixers (bless their souls) have 2 serious bucket getters. There is literally no one on the Pacers that can do anything close to what Maxey and Embiid did to us.

I think Haliburton's go-to scoring move is the high arcing 3, and that's after like 4 passes back and forth to get him open.

With regard to Siakim - they gave up a load of assets to get him (3 first rounders - 2 of the Pacers, another they acquired via trade), and while he puts up strong scoring numbers, he's not really a go-to scorer. So far in this series he looks like a complementary, in-the-flow scorer. Sort of the same offensive role that OG is being used in.

I'm not sure what the Pacers path forward is - but that's not my problem :).

Or old (Taj). But yeah, the draft and the G-League are pretty the way the team has to go. I mean, Jacob Toppin has shown enough flashes to suggest he could be a bench contributor one day. It's just going to take patience

Wait a minute. What about the veteran discount from ring chasers? If this team is as close to a ring as we're saying, why aren't they in play to snap up a couple of journeyman vets at the minimum? Or is that something only the Lakers can pull off?

Or old (Taj). But yeah, the draft and the G-League are pretty the way the team has to go. I mean, Jacob Toppin has shown enough flashes to suggest he could be a bench contributor one day. It's just going to take patience

Wait a minute. What about the veteran discount from ring chasers? If this team is as close to a ring as we're saying, why aren't they in play to snap up a couple of journeyman vets at the minimum? Or is that something only the Lakers can pull off?

Vets that can still play want to actually play is the point. Of course you can find scrubby vets like Taj and Burks and Shake Milton to round out the deep bench.

When healthy depth is not a problem. 3-4 injuries deep on rotation guys leaves every team thin.

If they grab a star, those guys are on their way to fill out the roster. Might happen either way, with a run-it-back healthy roster and guys that don't mind being a DOG. Softies won't and need not apply.

Clean wrote:Trading Randle was an option when we had a decision to make with which way we are going to go with the franchise.

Caitlin Cooper is a Pacers fan, but is as good as anyone at breaking down baskebtall. Here's how she looked at Game 2 from a Pacer perspective. Notice how she doesn't start with fouls, but starts with the premise that the Pacers gave up 130 points to a totally depleted Knicks team. Worth a listen to get another perspective thats not just fan speak, but some thinking person's bball.
